San Tan Learning Center:
San Tan Learning Center, located in Gilbert, Arizona, is a Montessori preschool and elementary school offering Pre-K through 6th Grade programs. Beginning in the Montessori Private Prep Academy program, San Tan Learning Center understands the child and the excitement of childhood learning. At a young age, children's personalities flourish in our carefully prepared, developmentally appropriate, and fun learning environments. The Elementary School at San Tan Learning Center aims to provide a proactively prepared learning environment for each student that assures individual achievement of the state standards and beyond.

The San Tan Learning Center’s FREE Charter Program began as a small private Montessori Preschool and Kindergarten in 2006 and quickly filled to enrollment capacity. However, due to the economy, many parents had difficulty affording tuition for Kindergarten students and were concerned about the local quality of Elementary Education programs for their children. In addition, many local families were excluded from the private school due to the cost while participating parents were concerned that their children would fail to thrive in the overcrowded local public schools as they transitioned to first grade.

Based on parent demand, San Tan Learning Center developed a K-6 Inquiry Based Learning Curriculum model incorporating applicable Montessori concepts and materials for a Public Charter School program. The charter for San Tan Learning Center was approved by the Arizona Board for Charter Schools in January 2008 after a rigorous process.

Our Philosophy:
San Tan Learning Center School’s dynamic learning environment is the result of a unique interactive and professional approach to education begun by the founders of San Tan Montessori and now flourished by all the families involved in making San Tan Learning Center’s School program possible. San Tan Learning Center’s guiding philosophy is based on the following instructional practices school wide:

- Offering four parent teacher conferences per year,
- Keeping students’ hands and minds engaged in purposeful and productive work,
- Analyzing student data and using them as a guide to instruction,
- Incorporating students’ interests and learning styles into learning activities,
- Meeting the needs of student’s multiple intelligences through varied activities,
- Utilizing effective classroom management with respectful communication,
- Preparing an interactive learning environment with each student in mind,
- Flourishing communication and self expression through journal writing,
- Full Day Kindergarten students are also afforded up to 90 minutes of Montessori work time per day.
