Hills Learning, New York:
Hills Learning is a language school based in New York City offering group English classes for adults and private English lessons for all ages and skill levels. Our group courses are held at the Chanin Building which is part of Grand Central station (380 Lexington Avenue). Our private English tutors cover all of NYC, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, The Bronx, and even Staten Island. Some spots of New Jersey and Connecticut can also be covered. Our aim is to provide English instruction that is both affordable, effective and fun. We have a variety of teachers and courses to choose to fit your linguistic, personal and professional goals.

Group English Classes:

Hills Learning offers two group English courses:

- Practical English
- Business English

Our group classes follows the SWIRL methodology (Speaking, Writing, Intonation, Reading and Listening). Each class contains a selection of quizzes, role playing, conversation practice, readings and comprehension tests.

We feel that having a smaller amount of students makes for a better language learning experience. Our group classes is limited to 8 students, with a 3 student minimum per class.

- Practical English Classes:
This course is designed to teach practical and useful English, both for everyday life, and for the workplace. Learn how to navigate situations such as writing an email to your boss, negotiating with a landlord, or just everyday conversational skills. Current event articles are also chosen and discussed in detail. Homework will be given.

By the end of this course students should be able to introduce themselves and be able to speak about various topics. They should feel more comfortable navigating difficult scenarios in English. Listening and Reading comprehension will also be improved.

Prerequisites:
This class is designed to develop and apply acquired English knowledge. It is generally assumed that students have a basic understanding of English conversation, vocabulary, and grammar.

- Business English Classes:
English is a necessary skill in today’s workplace. From working with clients to developing international relationships, English can sometimes make or break a company. Hills Learning offer group Business English Classes on an on demand basis. Classes are held either onsite at interested companies or at our Hills Learning Center at 380 Lexington Avenue, NYC.

Course Content:
Our English course focuses on everyday English in the workplace: how to write an email, talk to clients, speak with your manager, and answer the phone. In depth topics include meeting and business etiquette, writing proposals, industry lingo, economics and news comprehension.

By the end of this course students should be able to function in English in the workplace. They can write an email internally or externally, speak with a client, write a proposal, and understand commonly used vocabulary and grammatical structures. They should feel more comfortable speaking, and navigating difficult scenarios in English. Listening and Reading comprehension will also be improved.

Private English Lessons:
Our private English tutors can design programs for students of all ages and all skill levels. Our main goal for English private lessons is to develop conversational skills, but we also specialize in test prep, business etiquette, writing skills, interview techniques, or just general language acquisition. And of course, we can meet student’s individual goals and requirements.
