Desert Shadows Montessori, located in Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona, is a private preschool providing a Montessori environment for children 2.5 years old through kindergarten for over 20 years. Desert Shadows Montessori was founded in 1988 by Eileen Shea. In 2002, her daughter, Pat Shea Barton took over as director. We are dedicated to following each child-- to serve each child's needs in a Montessori environment. Desert Shadows serves about 40 families each year.
Montessori Preschool for 2.5 year olds through Kindergarten:
The Montessori philosophy of education has spread around the world. It emphasizes following the child as he learns through doing things himself.
Toddler Program:
We have created a special environment for little ones. It includes all natural materials, organic foods, cloth diapers, baby signs, Suzuki music lessons of course, itsy bitsy yoga, petite Picassos toddler art, and lots more wonderful and essential experiences for toddlers. We start toilet training very young, which is one reason for the cloth diapers at school.
Children's House:
2, 3, or 5 half day and full day programs for 2.5 year olds to kindergarten.
Art Classes:
We also offer year round and school year programs. Art classes are held on Monday mornings.
Yoga Classes:
Yoga classes are offered on Fridays.
Suzuki Violin Classes:
Suzuki violin classes are offered on Wednesdays.
Parent-Baby Class:
Our Parent-Child Class is held two Saturdays per month. The program is designed for infants and young toddlers.
