Bertrand Russell Italian School, Padua:
Established in 1975, Bertrand Russell Italian School offers Italian language courses in Padua, Northern Italy to students from around the world. Padua (called Padova in Italian) is located 40 km west of Venice and it's international airport. Our school is the perfect venue for those who wish to study or improve their Italian. Our courses cater to all students, from absolute beginners to students with more advanced knowledge, and are divided into levels that mirror the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Courses last for four weeks but students can choose to study for longer if they wish. We also offer individual lessons for students with special time or study requirements, and university admission bridging and foundation courses for foreign students.
- Since 1222, when the University was founded (the second oldest in the world after that of Bologna) Padua has always been an academic town. Elena Lucrezia Cornaro Piscopia, the first female graduate in the world, graduated here. Half of Padua’s population is made up of students, making it a young people’s town, where it is easy to make friends.
- Our Institute takes great care to find out the real needs of its students, offering courses at all levels and for varying lengths of time. Since its foundation, thousands of students, as well as many cultural operators, and professionals who studied with us have flatteringly praised us and referred their relatives, friends and employees to our Institute.
- We have highly specialized staff and dynamic and effective teaching methods. We supply students with the necessary tools for getting to know or deepening their knowledge of the Italian language and culture.
- We offer a series of services, such as the offer of accommodation with Italian families or in flats, the organization of day trips and excursions that allow students to know Padua, its history and its territory, and several social events that allow students to get to know each other, Italy and the Italians.
- The Italian language courses are divided into four different levels with progressive levels of difficulty, from elementary (A1) to advanced (C2), according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Lessons are held from Monday to Friday and from 9.00 to 13.00 for a total of 80 hours. Non-beginners may enter a course after the commencement date.
- Individual Italian tuition (private lessons):
The number of hours and duration of lessons are determined by the student himself according to his/her own requirements.
- University admission bridging and foundation courses for foreign students who wish to attend University in Italy and need to pass the admission test.
Padua lies in one of the nicest areas in Italy, one that offers seaside, mountains, lakes, sports, art cities and culture. Padua’s central position makes it possible to reach other important cities such as Venice, Verona, Vicenza, Treviso and Bologna easily. The nearby thermal centres of Abano and Montegrotto Terme and the nature park in the Euganean Hills offer superb recreational and relaxation facilities. Not far away there are the fine Adriatic beaches of Sottomarina, Jesolo, Caorle, Lignano Sabbiadoro, Bibione and the ski slopes of the Dolomites.
We are extremely careful in the search and choice of accommodation for our students, because we are convinced that quality accommodation is fundamental to enjoy one’s experience abroad in full. We offer several types of accommodation, according to preference. Our students can live in a flat with other students, live with an Italian family, rent a studio flat or book a hotel or B&B.
The structures we offer to our students are placed in strategic areas, so that they can get to school easily on foot, by bicycle or by bus. Rooms and flats are functional, welcoming and fully furnished; the kitchen is equipped with all necessary kitchenware, and bed linens and towels are provided for the entire length of stay. Sharing a flat entails sharing a bathroom and the kitchen with other students or the members of the host family.
