The UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland:
The UCD Confucius Institute, located at the UCD (University College Dublin) Belfield campus, south Dublin, Ireland, aims to promote China-Ireland cooperation in business, education and commerce. The Institute offers a range of evening courses in Mandarin Chinese and culture. The Institute is a joint venture between the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban), Renmin University of China and UCD. The Institute was established in 2007 and was officially opened by Mr. Zeng Peiyan, then Vice Premier of the People's Republic of China.
Mission Statement:
The mission of the UCD Confucius Institute for Ireland is to work with the Irish government, businesses and academia to develop stronger educational, cultural and commericial links between Ireland and China.
Activities:
In accordance with our Mission Statement, the Institute has been involved in many activities since its launch, including:
- Promoting an awareness of Chinese Language & Culture in Ireland
- Offering innovative Chinese language courses available for all
- Organising cultural and educational events at UCD to further public understanding of China
- Developing and promoting teaching and research in Chinese Studies
- Offering professional services to both public and private sectors to deepen economic relationships between China and Ireland
- Establishing an HSK (Chinese Language and Profiency Examination) Centre

Teach Me Mandarin provides evening Mandarin Chinese language classes for beginners and intermediate levels. These classes are run from the Harcourt Hotel which is centrally located on Harcourt Street, off the south-west corner of St. Stephen's Green in Dublin City Centre. Harcourt Street is on the LUAS line which services from Grafton Street (one stop) to the north and to the Green Line Sandyford in the south.
