English Encounters, Toronto area:
English Encounters is a small English language school that provides an intimate and friendly atmosphere in which to improve your English language skills. English Encounters is located in downtown Burlington in the Greater Toronto Area in Southern Ontario on the north shore of Lake Ontario, between Toronto and Hamilton (Less than one hour south of Toronto by train or car). We are dedicated to providing the highest quality intensive English language courses where the emphasis is on communication. Individual attention is our first priority and at English Encounters we make sure you receive the attention you need in a comfortable and convenient setting near Toronto.

English Language Courses:
We cater for all levels from beginners to advanced.

Group English Language Course:
Study English in our Group English Lessons! Our Group English Lessons have an average of eight students in each class. You can decide to take 10, 20 or 25 lessons each week, up to 52 weeks. The is available all year and can start every Monday.

Classes are usually from 9:00 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. (20 lesson program). Afternoon classes are from 1:50 p.m. to 4:10 p.m. Course content: conversation, grammar, listening, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, writing, field trips and more conversation.

Intensive English Language Course (With combination of individual & private lessons): 
This course contains of 20 or 25 hours group lessons in the morning and 5 hours of 1-to-1 lessons in the afternoon. During your 1-to-1 lessons in the afternoon you have the possibility to focus on IELTS, TOEIC or TOEFL preparation, general English, English for Academic Purposes, English for Specific Purposes or Business English.

Private One-To-One English Language Classes:
These are tailored to the needs of students. Study general English / English for specific purposes. English in a 1-to-1 situation with your teacher for 2 to 30 hours each week. You may want to work on your pronunciation, study English for tourism, politics, medicine or various other professions. The classes can take place between 9:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. This course can be in addition to group lessons and can be taken with a friend or family as semi-private lessons.

Accelerated English Language Combination Course:
This course is especially designed for busy professionals who would like to study English very intensively. The course lasts 120 lessons that can be taken from 3 to 4 weeks if you have time available.

Homestay Programs With a Local Canadian Family / Your English Language Teacher
Immerse yourself in the English language by living locally with a host family or English language teacher.

Business English Language Course:
Study business English and improve your job opportunities in your country. We offer group business English lessons for 20 or 25 lessons per week. The focus during the classes may be on: economic, business correspondence, presentations, intercultural studies or exam preparation for the TOEIC test.

IELTS, TOEIC & TOEFL English Language Exam Preparation Course: 
This course is designed to prepare you for the IELTS / TOEIC / TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language ) tests and includes 10 group lessons of general English plus 10 private test-preparation lessons per week. This course is available all year from 2 to 12 weeks.

* TOEFL:  The Test of English as a Foreign Language evaluates the ability of an individual to use and understand English in an academic setting. TOEFL test is the most widely regarded English-language test in the wokrd and is often a requirement when applying at universities.

* TOEIC:  The Test of English for International Communication measures the ability of non-native English-speaking examinees to use English in everyday workplace activities.

* IELTS:  The International English Language Testing System is an international standardised test of English language proficiency. More than half a million candidates sit the test each year.

ESL Online:
Improve your English with our ESL Online program. At the beginning of the course, we will send you your personal curriculum so that you can start studying at home. After that you will join your teacher for a live lesson to expand your English skills. For the online classes we use Windows Live Messenger or Skype.
