St. Bernadette Catholic Elementary School, Rockford:
St. Bernadette Catholic Elementary School (Pre-K-8), located in Rockford in Winnebago County in northern Illinois, is an extension of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. As we share the Church's teaching and history, we hope that our students will be strong spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically. Students have daily religion instruction and attend Mass weekly. Students are encouraged to participate in the Mass through music, serving, ushering, and lectoring.
Our mission is to provide each student with a thorough understanding and appreciation of the Catholic Faith and to provide a foundation of academic and personal skills that will be necessary to thrive as a responsible member of the school and parish communities as well as the world at large.
Academic Programs:
- St. Bernadette's Pre-K-8 academic program is officially recognized by the State of Illinois.
- We provide instruction in the traditional academic subjects (Math, Reading, Language/English, Phonics, Science, & Social Studies).
- In addition to these curricular areas, students are instructed in Religion, Physical Education, Music, Art, Computers and Library.
- Students are tested using the IOWA Test of Basic Skills in grades 2-7.
- Our students generally score at or above their grade level on these tests. The results help us measure academic growth and the effectiveness of our curriculum.
St. Bernadette School Extended Day Program provides before and after school care for St. Bernadette School students in grades K-8th. It is available full-time, part-time and on an emergency basis. If a child is not picked up by 2:55pm, they will be sent to Extended Day and the regular fees will apply.
St. Bernadette School offers a variety of extra curricular programs including the alter server programs, Scholastic Bowl, Band, Choir, Yearbook, Newspaper, Student Council, Patrol, Boy/Girl Scouts and Athletics.
The Athletic Program hosts Soccer (co-ed) in the fall, Boys and Girls Basketball in the winter, and Volleyball (co-ed) in the spring for students in 5th through to 8th grades. Participation in all athletic programs is subject to eligibility standards in academics and conduct.
St. Bernadette School exists as part of our Parish to help families guide, develop, and instill in our children the knowledge and attitudes we as a community value:

Latin School of Chicago located adjacent to Lincoln Park on the North Side is an independent, co-educational college preparatory school for students in junior kindergarten through to grade twelve.
