Pacific International Hotel Management School:
Located in New Plymouth, New Zealand, Pacific International Hotel Management School (PIHMS), under the guidance of the renowned International Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (IHTTI) of Neuchatel, Switzerland, produces graduates with the right skills and experience to take up a job in the industry anywhere throughout the world. In the Swiss tradition, the campus works as a hotel, giving students practical daily experiences in all aspects of hotel operations. Students wear appropriate uniforms and are rostered for duties to experience being both a guest and a staff member. Every day during the 18 months spent on campus, students take on both operational and supervisory roles. It is this critical blend of practical skills and theoretical knowledge that will prepare students to excel in this highly demanding international industry.

The International Diplomas in Hotel Management have been specifically designed to meet the needs of the Hotel Industry. The two and a half year programme is divided into 5 semesters. Semesters 1, 3 and 5 are spent on-campus studying the various aspects of hotel management and operations. In semesters 2 and 4, with our assistance, you’ll obtain employment in some of the best establishments in New Zealand and overseas.

Applied Hotel Management (III): you’ll work a ‘management shift’ as a departmental manager in the PIHMS simulated hotel environment on a week long, full-time shift.

Following the successful completion of the International Diplomas in Hotel Management, students can apply for the six-month degree extension course to complete a Bachelor of Applied Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Post Graduate Diploma in Hotel Management.
The Post Graduate programme is designed for degree graduates (minimum 3 year, business related) from a recognized establishment, or for candidates with a satisfactory academic background and previous industry experience consisting of 5 years with supervisory/managerial experience. The Pacific International Hotel Management School is accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority to deliver the Post Graduate Diploma in Hotel Management, and does so from its campus in New Plymouth, New Zealand.

The school is dedicated to the hospitality industry in further building the standards of hospitality management within New Zealand and globally. It operates as a co-operative venture between the hospitality industry and higher education institutions. It aims to facilitate the demands for post graduate or specialised hospitality management training and education to produce graduates with professional and personal skills at the highest level.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Hotel Management course comprises three semesters. The first semester is compulsory residential in the Hotel accommodation provided at The Pacific International Hotel Management School campus in New Plymouth, New Zealand. During the second and third semesters, the student will be required to undertake industry work experience, and complete units of study by distance learning.
