Intercultural Communications College Hawaii, Honolulu:
Intercultural Communications College which is located in Honolulu on the island of Hawaii, to the south of the US, is one of the oldest English schools in Hawaii. ICC has been offering English language education since 1990. We are a full-service school and our quality ESL classes, exciting activities program, and unique homestay and accommodations program will help you improve your English to achieve your goals.
English for Communication:
The English for Communication (EC) program provides a friendly environment in which students practice, improve and learn to enjoy communicative English. There are six levels ranging from Beginner to Advanced. All levels cover reading, writing, listening and speaking and focus on the practical use of English. Students may begin the course on any Monday (please see our Term Calendar for exact dates). The average class size is eight students and never exceeds fourteen students to insure personal attention to each student. All classes, except the Beginner class, are held in the Morning from 8:30am to 12:30pm
The regular curriculum at the Intermediate to Advanced level is divided into two sessions daily: Listening & Speaking, then Reading & Writing. Full-time students have a choice of a variety of electives during the second session on Tuesdays and Thursdays after the part-time students leave.
English for Business:
English for Business students practice all language skills using the vocabulary and customs of English, focusing on the business-related topics listed below. To conclude each week’s course, students complete a case study modeled after the Harvard Business School method. These courses will help students in building their network, developing new markets, and extending their brand & reach.
As with all ICC classes, good oral communication skills are of primary importance. As such, students in English for Business have numerous opportunities to speak. Activities to encourage speaking include pair and small group discussions, negotiating, debates, role-plays and speech presentations.
Cambridge Examination:
Cambridge ESOL Exam Preparation courses equip students for achieving a Cambridge certificate recognized by thousands of universities, employees, and governments worldwide! ICC offers preparation courses for the following exams:
First Certificate in English (FCE): intermediate/upper intermediate English-level
Certificate in Advanced English (CAE): upper intermediate/lower advanced English-level
Cambridge Proficiency Exam (CPE): advanced English-level
ICC was the first site in Hawaii to be approved for the FCE and CAE exams and has been successfully offering these exams since 1998. Applicants for all Cambridge courses must pass an entrance pre-test on arrival. If their level is not adequate, they will be counseled regarding further options.
