Summer Fashion Courses in Paris, France

Paris American Academy:
Founded in 1965, Paris American Academy is an accredited arts & design school located less than a kilometer from Notre-Dame Cathedral in the famous Latin Quarter of Paris. We offer intensive summer programs in the subjects of fashion, interior design, fine arts and creative writing. Our summer courses last for four weeks and are all taught in English. A Survival French course is included in each program.

The Paris American Academy is registered by the Académie de Paris, as a private institution of higher learning under the 12 July 1875 jurisdiction.

Our Teachers:
The Paris American Academy has formed a unique teaching staff comprised of academics, qualified professionals, guest artists and visiting professors.

Students benefit from a personalized learning environment created by a student instructor ratio of one to five and small class numbers.

The language of instruction is English. Our summer courses include Survival French lessons.

English Language Course (4-weeks / 80 hours):
The English Language Institute at Paris American Academy (ELI PAA) offers a 4-week English course to international students and native French students at elementary English to advanced English levels.

The objective of the course is to help students to improve their English and to prepare them for further studies at Paris American Academy, English-speaking business schools, colleges or universities in Paris, France and throughout Europe.

When you successfully complete the 4-week English course, you will receive a Certificate in English Language indicating the highest level you achieved. All textbooks and materials are provided.

Other Academic Programs:
PAA offers three-year bachelor's degree courses in fashion and interior design. In addition, we also offer fall and spring semester abroad programs in fashion, fashion merchandising or interior design.

For all summer workshops:
- Students must be over 18 years of age
- Students must have a high school diploma or equivalent

- Fashion Summer Workshop: Students must provide a mini-portfolio including 5 photos of sketches and 3 photos of garments and/or hats that you have made.

- Fine Arts Summer Workshop: Students must provide 5 photos of 5 sketches (or sketches) and 3 photos of completed paintings.

- Interior Design Summer Workshop: Students must provide 5 photos of 5 sketches (or sketches) and 3 photos of completed design works.

- Creative Writing Summer Workshop: Students must provide writing samples : The writing sample should be your best work in your strongest genre: either 3-5 poems, one short story (fiction or non-fiction), a 4 page treatment and opening 10 pages of screenplay, or one chapter of a novel with a brief synopsis. If published please add copy of published piece with date and name of publication attached.

Each of the summer workshops can be booked with or without accommodation. Accommodation is available in local three star hotels or private furnished apartments.

Accommodation in 3-star hotel:
The hotel is located at a 3 minute walk from the school. It offers air conditioned rooms, telephone and satellite TV.

There are no kitchen facilities but a buffet-style breakfast is included. Access to WIFI internet is available but not included. Daily room cleaning, sheets and towels are provided almost daily.

Accommodation in private apartments:
PAA manages a number of private apartments in various buildings within a mile radius of the Val de Grace. Furnished, clean and well-maintained, they vary in size from small studios to spacious multi-unit rooms. Each unit has kitchen and bathroom facilities. These are not serviced apartments, no meals are provided.
