Aikido Florida Aikikai, Fort Lauderdale:
At Aikido Florida Aikikai in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, we teach the ancient martial-arts tradition of Aikido to adults, kids and teens of all ages and levels from our location in the heart of the city. Aikido is a Japanese of martial-art based on self defense that is performed by blending with the motion of the attacker and redirecting the force of the attack rather than opposing it head-on. We offer beginner, mixed and advanced levels of Aikido training to students of all ages.
- Aikido - More Than Just Self-Defence
Aikido has been referred to as "Zen in motion" because of it's meditative and philosophical qualities. It fosters self-awareness that can eventually lead you toward spiritual enlightenment. The benefits of Aikido training go far beyond simple self defense. Aikido teaches you how to focus your mind, body and spirit into powerful unified action, creating a vital, perceptive and engaging personality.
- Improve Your Physical and Mental Strength
Daily Aikido practice improves your physical conditioning - strength, balance, flexibility, coordination and also your mental conditioning - self-confidence, concentration, alertness, intuitiveness and concern for others.
- Experienced, Respected Instructors
We are proud to have a great team of experienced instructors who have a wealth of teaching experience. This team led by Chief Instructor Peter Bernath Sensei, 7th Dan, Shihan. Bernath Sensei is a member of the Technical Committee of the USAF.
- Ancient Tradition
Aikido's philosophy of harmoniously dealing with conflict can also be used as a means of overcoming the stress and conflicts we face in our everyday lives. The principles of Aikido teach you how to avoid confrontations and to stay calm and centered in the midst of adversity.
- Real-life Martial Arts Skills
Several of our students work in law enforcement and use Aikido effectively all the time. But the effectiveness of techniques in the street depends on your ability to apply them. In order to use them you must train yourself to apply the techniques reflexively and Aikido takes a very long time to learn.
