The Florence Institute, located in the center of Florence, Italy, is an international school of Italian design providing both masters and undergraduate level design courses. The Institute specializes in a wide range of courses of Graphic Design, Interior Design, Art History and Architecture, for students from across Europe and around the world. The entry hall to the Institute is a unique example of Baroque interior design and art. Covered with plaster decorations, large colorful paintings and vaulted fresco ceilings, the hall is the signature space for the institute. Each of the paintings and vaults depicts celestial scenes with cherubs and mythological characters in vividly animated compositions. Both the hall and the palazzo date back to the Baroque design era of the 1700’s, Because examples of Baroque architecture are so rare in the Florence center, the entire palazzo is historical certified and protected by Italy’s Minister of Culture.

The Florence Institute of Design International is located on the historical street of Borgo Ognissanti which runs between Piazza Goldoni to Via il Prato. The ‘borgo’ indicates that at one time the street was outside the city walls. Borgo Ognissanti is named after the Church of Ognissanti, which is a Franciscan church founded by the lay order of the Umiliati, and is dedicated to all the saints and martyrs, known and unknown.
Creative Director of the Institute:
Marc DiDomenico is an architect and interior designer who oversees the design components of the institute's academic programs. His extensive experience in architecture, interiors, international competitions, and historic preservation brings a professional emphasis to the institute’s academic structure. His works have been featured in respected international publications and his experience extends equally between Italy, Europe and North America. Arch. DiDomenico in addition instructs critical parts of the Interior Design studio courses.
Arch. DiDomenico also servers as the Vice-President of the AIA Continental Europe chapter. AIAce is a International association that attracts hundreds of architects and designers with members throughout Europe and North America. Through the AIA he is involved with the organization of design exhibitions, architectural tours, and international conferences.
