The Global Makeup Diploma Program is a Full-time program. Classes are scheduled for 20 hours per week: Monday/Tuesday and Wednesday or Wednesday/Thursday and Friday. A student must successfully complete ALL levels of the course, including Cosmetic Retailing and Hairstyling, in order to obtain a Diploma.
Each section of the course includes both theoretical and practical study with a stronger emphasis on the practical. Exams – both written and practical are given at the end of each section. Students receive a transcript at the end of each section.
To help the students create a working portfolio, numerous professional photo shoots are scheduled throughout the program. Students are also encouraged to bring their own digital camera to keep a record of their practical work and will be required to bring a digital camera to the Introduction to Art & Technology.
Please note that it is necessary to bring models (female and sometimes male) for practical exercises and exams. Students must provide their own models.
Freelance Makeup:
Our fluid and dynamic curriculum combined with educators passionate about makeup artistry creates a dynamic and empowering learning experience. And results. The Freelance Makeup Program offers students the opportunity to explore their creative potential, hone their application techniques, identify business opportunities and develop a marketable portfolio. When personal vision is combined with talent and opportunity, extraordinary things can happen.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this program students will be able to:
1. Complete professional day, evening, bridal and fashion makeup (and hair) applications for a variety of situations, venues and clients.
2. Load, clean and efficiently operate an airbrush with a focus on special event, fashion and fantasy makeup applications.
3. Develop a self-marketing plan and portfolio suitable for educational or career advancement.
4. Develop research and design abilities, professional communication skills, and acquire a working knowledge of professional makeup products, applications, theories and concepts.
Course Content:
Modules in this program include: Makeup Fundamentals, Bridal Makeup, Hairstyling Seminars, Bridal Hair, Fashions in Makeup & Photographic Makeup, Airbrushing for Photo Shoots, and Self Marketing and Promotion.
Fashion Design:
The one-year Fashion Design program is divided into four semesters. This comprehensive program is comprised of 22 subjects for a total of 63 credits. All subjects must be successfully completed in order to receive a diploma.
Program schedule: Fashion Design students attend six classes per week. Classes are scheduled on a three day per week basis, for a total of twenty hours per week. Class schedules run M-T-W or W-Th-F.

Fashion Merchandising:
The Fashion Merchandising Diploma Progam: students must complete twenty courses of three credits each, totaling 60 credits to graduate. This comprehensive program is divided into four semesters, over a one year period. All subjects must be successfully completed in order to receive a Diploma.
Program schedules: Fashion Merchandising students attend five classes per week. Classes are scheduled on a three day per week basis, for a total of twenty hours per week. Class schedules are available M-T-W, M-T-Th or W-Th-F. Students must be completely available Monday through Friday, as schedules may change in each semester.
Pro Hair:
Moving well beyond the traditional paradigm of hair school training, the college provides you with an unparalleled approach to Hair education. With a thorough and complete immersion into all aspects of Hair, this progressive curriculum will allow you the flexibility and fluidity to work in a diversity of work environments and industries, from salon, editorial, runway, television production studios to film sets.
This is the first Hair program in Canada to integrate the essential skills and application relating to Hair for television and feature films.
Whatever your path, the Blanche Macdonald PRO HAIR program will ensure that you will acquire all the necessary skills and confidence that will propel you to success.
Throughout your training, practical skills are honed and sharpened with countless hours spent working on outside clients. This is not a program that can be condensed into a few short months. In order to ensure your successful outcome as a top Hair professional, you need to have the hundreds of hours of practice and practical application. Only by cutting, colouring, and creating on a continual basis can you develop the skills, the discerning aesthetic, the competence and the confidence that you need to compete and excel.
Esthetics:
The Professional Esthetics program at the Blanche Macdonald Centre provides the students with an outstanding education. This is the highest calibre of Esthetics training that will prepare students for a full range of career choices, allowing you to easily move and morph from one specialized segment of the industry to the next.
The Esthetics Diploma program is a successful integration of high-touch with high-tech. The Blanche Macdonald Centre has been teaching and advancing Esthetics education for over forty years. The program content, structure and delivery is continually developed and enhanced to incorporate changing industry demands and needs, new technological development, product knowledge and dynamic new modalities and treatments.
There are multiple core levels in your professional Esthetics training. On completion of these requisite levels, you will have gained a substantial knowledge of current Esthetic techniques, treatments, products and equipment, supported by an understanding of basic anatomy, chemistry and physiology. You are taught to uphold high standards of professional presentation, conduct, and hygiene. You will develop an extensive practical repertoire in makeup, nails, body care, relaxation massage and more.
Nail Parlour:
The Nail Parlour Nail Pro program at the Blanche Macdonald Centre provides an outstanding educational experience. This 300 hour program delivers a comprehensive and innovative approach to learning not only technical skills, but also interpersonal skills, time management skills and business building techniques. This quality of training will prepare you to begin a variety of career opportunities, whether you decide to offer a full range of nail services or specialize in an industry area.
