Istituto d'Arte Applicata e Design (IAAD), Turin:
The Istituto d’Arte Applicata e Design (IAAD) in Turin (Torino), Italy is a design school offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the fields of industrial design, interior and furniture design, advertising and graphic design and transportation design. It was founded in 1978 by the initiative of a group of professionals that operate in the field of visual communication and product design. The teaching-staff, supported by visiting professors, is mainly composed by professionals, tightly linked to the national and international “design system”. Our European bachelor degree courses, and post-graduate masters and seminars, begin in October and end in June.
We offer Bachelor and Master degree programs in the following areas:
• Transportation design
• Industrial design
• Interior & furniture design
• Advertising & graphic design
The core of IAAD didactics is based on: fixed number of students, compulsory attendance, internships and collaboration with national and international companies.
Accreditation:
IAAD three-year first level postgraduate courses are accredited by EABHES - European Accreditation Board of Higher Education Schools for the achieving of the qualification “European Bachelor of Science in Design” 180 ECTS credits.
IAAD Masters are accredited by EABHES - European Accreditation Board of Higher Education Schools for the achieving of the qualification “European Master of Science in Design” 60 or 120 ECTS credits (1 or 2 year-course).
All the courses foresee a fixed number of students admitted and compulsory attendance, in order to guarantee a constant monitoring of the learning level. To enrol in a Bachelor course, it is necessary to have a secondary school diploma and to attend vocational interviews.
Courses aim to enhance projectile and technical skills for a direct access to the job world. They are based on a historical and critical vision of design and visual communication, to give the students a cultural base on which develop professional skills and/or abilities to prosecute the studies.
The skills of presenting and orient oneself in the job market can be developed thanks to individual and group activities, and a qualified internship service. Such activities – subsidiary during the courses – walk aside the institutional study path.
Master Degree Courses:
Master courses are one or two-year courses (60 or 120 ECTS credits) and are addressed to students who want to complete their study paths after a Bachelor; they foresee an advanced level of specialization and experimentation, with theoretical subjects and projectile activities together.
Master courses are addressed to those students who want to specialize their education, thanks to an advanced study structure, aimed to get experiences and relations into the design system and its professional spheres. The skills of presenting and orient oneself in the job market can be developed thanks to individual and group activities, and a qualified internship service. Such activities – subsidiary during the courses – walk aside the institutional study path.
Internship is part and parcel of the Master course didactic structure. In order to ease the attendance of working-students both to lessons and internships, it’s possible that Master courses have, totally or partially, evening lessons, even during weekends.
