Our aim is to develop your ability to communicate more effectively and to understand English as it is spoken by native speakers. These courses therefore cover the basic skills of speaking, reading, listening and writing, as well as the development of your grammar, vocabulary and fluency in the language.
These courses vary in terms of learning levels, duration, and the number of students per class (with a maximum of ten students per class). Also courses can be tailored to suit the needs of students in a particular class.
Intensive English Course:
This is a combination course consisting of a General English 20 course in the morning and private one-to-one tutoring in the afternoon (10 lessons per week). This course is ideal for students who would like to improve their level of general spoken English while focusing on an area of particular interest.
Business English Course:
Focused on individual professional needs: A 'Needs Analysis' will be conducted prior to your starting the course to determine the specific aspects of Business English which you would like to develop further. The course is flexible enough to take into consideration your individual professional needs.
Essential business skills:Being a small group of not more than six students, there will be lots of time for hands-on sessions focusing on essential business skills such as negotiation, participating in meetings, delivering presentations and doing business in an international environment.
Social language skills:Your proficiency in English will also improve substantially through an expanded vocabulary, greater grammar awareness and improved writing skills, while attention is also be given to developing social English language skills.
Academic Year Programs:
Study English for extended periods:Academic Year Courses are designed for students who want to study for extended periods or study at a university where English is a requirement for entry. These courses could either be one semester or the full academic year course of two semesters, totalling six or nine months respectively. The courses, which schedule 30 lessons per week, commence in January and September, with the course syllabus combining an extensive English language programme with a cultural one. AYC courses have a maximum of ten students per class.
Learn how to learn efficiently:The core curriculum concentrates on the four essential skills necessary to enable learners to communicate in English – speaking, listening, reading and writing. Students will also be taught skills which will allow them to become more effective and efficient learners. There will be a focus on pronunciation while grammar will be taught in context.
Leisure activities included:A typical day at ESE is split into three one-hour sessions in the morning and a further hour and a half in the afternoon. In addition to joining other students on afternoon activities, AYC students will be entitled to free participation in activities such as film shows and organised walks.
Optional Cambridge, TOEFL iBT or IELTS examination courses:
Towards the end of their course students will have the option of either enrolling in the Cambridge Main Suite Examinations, TOEFL iBT or the IELTS Examination preparation course (subject to students being at the appropriate entry level). Examination fees will apply. Students not joining an examination course will enroll in a General English 30 course appropriate to their level. Students who are not able to start on the designated start dates may join the AYC on other dates at ESE's Director of Studies' discretion.
Mini Class English Course:
A Miniclass English course is similar to a General English (GE 30) course of 30 lessons per week but it is a smaller group with a maximum of 6 students only. This ensures extended student-teacher interaction time to satisfy individual requirements and to make your learning more effective.
Private Tuition:
This course is specifically designed and recommended for clients who have limited time available for study and wish to make the maximum progress in the minimum time available. You will have continuous monitoring and evaluation of your progress with your own tutor who will be chosen to meet your special needs.
English for 50+:
This 50+ Course is designed around functional English or "ready-made" English to use immediately, such as ordering food in a restaurant or asking for directions. The lessons vary according to the group of students using a variety of activities such as role-plays, simulations and other communicative activities. The classroom tuition is complemented very well with a rewarding and fun-packed programme of activities and excursions blending culture and lesiure. Both individuals and groups are welcomed in this course.
