Academy of English Studies Folkestone:
Academy of English Studies (AES), in Folkestone, Kent (1 hour from north London) is an English language school accredited by the British Council offering Beginner to Advanced level English classes to adults. As well as having a warm and welcoming atmosphere, we employ a team of highly experienced and qualified trainers, dedicated to making your time here meaningful and fun. Our teachers use the latest teaching methodologies and accelerated learning techniques.

General English Course (All Levels):
Study Any level of English for 15 or 21 hours a week. The General English course integrates grammar, reading, writing, listening speaking and pronunciation. You take a test on your first day and then placed in the appropriate class level.

Examination Course:
You can prepare for Cambridge examinations or the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) examinations. Courses are offered throughout the year and examination practice is given every Friday morning, which enables your teacher to monitor your progress. The number of weeks you need to enroll to prepare for an examination will depend on your level on admission to the Academy. The Director of Studies gives you a good indication of how much time you need to prepare for an exam after you take the placement test.

We prepare you for the following examinations:
- Cambridge Exams
- Key English Test (KET)
- Preliminary Exam (PET)
- First Certificate (FCE)
- Advanced (CAE)
- Proficiency (CPE)

Combination Course:
These courses consist of 15 hours tuition in a morning group and 4 or 8 hours of one-to-one tuition in the afternoon with a private tutor. You can study on a General English course for the morning programme, and, during the individual sessions, tutors work on your areas of weakness and personal needs and interests, enabling you to progress more rapidly. These courses take place throughout the year.

One-to-One Course:
We offer one to one tuition at all levels. You can take classes throughout the year, but classes during July and August may be limited. These courses allow you to develop English at your own pace.

Work Experience:
The work experience programme is designed to introduce you to the world of work and to give you the opportunity to put your language skills you have learnt in the classroom into practice in a working environment. You must be of at least Intermediate level before you can be allowed to go on work experience. We aim to do our best in placing you as close to your chosen field of work as possible.

Business English Course:
The Business English Courses are designed to help you if you are already in business, or if you are preparing to enter a job in which English is used on a regular basis. You programme is for 20 hours per week and you are expected to complete an assignment on a weekly basis.

Vacation Course (Homestay):
- Junior Vacation Course (13-17 years)
- 2 week courses in July and August
- Full Board host family accommodation
- 15 hours of English a week
- A fun programme of sports, visits and excursions
- An evening social programme

Other Classes:
The School offers special summer sessions, Business English, and special topic English Language courses (for example, Executive Business English, English for Travel & Tourism, English for Hotel & Catering, English for International Banking, English for Lawyers, Medical & Pharmaceutical English). All of these courses are available when there is sufficient student interest and advance enrolment. These classes are in small groups of four to six students and include: exam practice; conversation; grammar; composition and writing skills.
