The Los Angeles Academy of Performing Arts:Conveniently located on Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, Los Angeles, CA., The Los Angeles Academy of Performing Arts (LAAPA) offers year-round pre-professional training to children and teens in the areas of drama, dance, and music. We also offer open adult classes, workshops, performance camps, and school outreach programs. Our instructors are some of the leading professionals in the world of performing arts. Our Junior Academy students (ages 7-12 years) are exposed to the same material as the Academy students (ages 13-18 years). Workshops are included as part of the curriculum.

Located in the heart of Hollywood, The Los Angeles Academy of Performing Arts is a year-round conservatory in residence at the Paul G. Gleason Theatre.
Pre-Professional Performing Arts Training for Children & Teens:
We offer year-round performing arts training for children & teens in the areas of drama, dance, and music (12-week sessions). Admittance into the Academy is by audition. There is no audition required for the Junior Academy.
- Children ages 7-12 years are eligible to enroll in the Junior Academy. Classes meet 2 nights a week, in addition to Saturday rehearsals.
- The Academy is a pre-professional performing arts conservatory for students ages 13-18 years.
- Open classes in acting, dancing, singing, yoga, pilates & group guitar are available to adults & children.
- In addition, LAAPA offers performance camps, and workshops taught by some of the leading professionals in the world of performing arts.
- We also provide school outreach programs.
Many classes run simultaneously so parents can attend one class while their children attend another. Acting, singing & group guitar classes follow the same twelve-week schedule as Academy classes. Drop-in classes are available for dance, yoga, and pilates only.

The Colburn School

The Colburn School is a non-profit independent institution located in downtown Los Angeles across from the Walt Disney Concert Hall, consisting of two divisions: a non-degree-granting School of Performing Arts (1400 students and growing) and a degree-granting (maximum 110 students). The Colburn School is a community-based school that provides music, dance and drama training from introductory to advanced levels to students from ages preschool through adult. The School of Performing Arts has existed for over 50 years; the Conservatory is in its third year. Our mission in the School of Performing Arts emphasizes quality early education in the performing arts. We do offer classes for students as young as 1½ years of age, but there is no upper age limit for enrollment, and some of our students are adults. The Conservatory of Music is predominantly college-age students. The Colburn School is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
