Tilden Preparatory School:
Tilden Preparatory School in Albany (10 miles from San Francisco), Alameda County, is a private, accredited, college preparatory school for grades 6-12. Tilden uses a tutorial style to teach curriculum one-to-one and in small groups. One-to-one teaching provides a tremendous opportunity for students to work at their own pace (either faster or slower than usual), with attention to their style of learning, and to maximize opportunities for them to pursue their areas of interest in greater depth. Group class opportunities complement the one-to-one classes so that students have the option and benefit of both learning environments.

Live Oak School is an independent, co-educational day school for students in kindergarten through to 8th grade located in Potrero Hill on the east side of San Francisco. Founded by parents and teachers in 1971, Live Oak draws families from Portrero, Central East, Mission District and other communities throughout the Peninsula. Live Oak is a small school where students and families know each other well. We believe that school is both a place to learn and a place to learn how to learn.

We want our students to know themselves and to know how to work with others. We want our students to leave Live Oak with the doors wide open. Our faculty, staff, board and families work together to create a learning environment that is diverse, challenging, nurturing, engaging and inspiring. We believe that the journey is as important as the destination, and at the same time, we are proud that our graduates choose among public, independent and religious high schools.

The Buckley School, Los Angeles
Courses / Programs
The Buckley School is a private, co-educational pre-kindergarten through to grade 12 school, the oldest coed day school located in Los Angeles, unique in its high level of academics, positive, friendly community, and small size. Based in Sherman Oaks, we serve families in Encino, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Beverly Glen and surrounding communities. More than preparation for high school, students are moved thoughtfully and sensitively from Lower School and prepared for the more departmentalized Upper School program.

The school climate permits them to develop their abilities and a love of learning while they are challenged academically. Dr. Buckley’s approach addresses the development of the whole student, enabling them to become well-rounded, knowledgeable, and independent. At Buckley, we look for students who are well suited to our philosophy. For us, success means feeling safe to take a risk, ask a question, try out for a play or run for office. It means students who take the opportunity to learn and grow in all areas of school life, inside and outside of the classroom.
