Based in Madrid, Fun Time in Spain organizes year-round Spanish immersion activity programs for adults and summer camps for teenagers & kids. The best way to improve your command of the Spanish language is through immersion. Our programs give you the opportunity to enjoy fun activities in a typical Spanish town or city while practicing your Spanish on an everyday basis. No lessons, just live in Spanish enjoying the activity you choose. Golf, Sailing, Sports Adventure or a week or two in Andalusia.
Fun Time in Spain was founded in 2006 with one single objective: provide a fun and effective way to improve the command and fluency of the Spanish Language. We do not offer courses, or master classes. Just choose one of your preferred activities, the length of your stay - escapade or one week - and we will welcome you. En español, por supuesto. It is a kind of theme holidays: in Spanish, in Spain, with Spaniards.
Our Spanish immersion programs are for those who are able to communicate in Spanish at a basic level already, and wish to immerse themselves in the Spanish language, whilst enjoying some kind of activity or hobby at the same time. In a fun, personalized way, you will gain fluency and command with little effort. Whichever experience you choose, you will be assisted all the time by one of our partners. This person will be your guide and your Spanish language coach.
The magic potion that makes people talk fluently in a foreign language has no secret ingredients.
Once you are familiar with the basics of the language, just add:
-the curiosity needed to learn new words, sentences and ways of thinking;
-the will to use it no matter the mistakes;
-the actual use of the language on the everyday actions;
-the activity you chose as excuse to improve your Spanish (or was it the other way round?);
-the firm decision of really improving the language day after day; and most important,
-a good amount of healthy sense of humour and willingness to enjoy a really good time -in Spanish.
The success of a Programme, understood as a substantial improvement in the use of day to day Spanish, depends essentially on the each participant. This means you! A week is very short and because of this, it is fundamental that you really do wish to improve your Spanish.
Before you come to Spain
Go over your Spanish so as not to arrive with just a vague memory of the language. Watch a Spanish film, look at Spanish magazines or listen to Spanish radio stations on the internet.
Whilst you're in Spain with us
- Don't worry about making mistakes when speaking –it really is normal.
- Try to listen and speak as much as possible.
- There will be moments when FTS will ask you to be responsible for something or to carry out a special task sometime during the Programme. Enjoy this opportunity.
- Mix with the different people on your Programme, and take a special interest in getting to know them better.
- Share your experiences and anecdotes.
- Ask, ask, ask and ask again. Only then will you know the answers –in Spanish.
- Most importantly, don't leave your sense of humour or your happiness at home.Both of these things will improve your level of Spanish whilst you have a great time. This will beyour greatest tool to obtain the best results.
After your stay with Fun Time in Spain
Do not suddenly stop using your Spanish. You will find that you now understand films better: you will be able to read magazines and listen to the radio stations that you tried to understand before coming on the Programme.
