Aesthetics Institute of Cosmetology, Gaithersburg:
Located in Gaithersburg MD (only 30 minutes drive from Washington DC), The Aesthetics Institute of Cosmetology is a Maryland-licensed private career school that provides makeup artistry, cosmetology, esthetician and nail technician programs. Established in 1985, we offer day and evening classes for your convenience. Financial aid may be available to those who qualify.

Beauty Career Training Programs:

Cosmetology Program: 1500 Hours
Course Duration: 10-20 months. The length of the program depends on the schedule you choose. You can opt to take 40, 30, 24 or 16 hour sessions.
Get prepared for an entry level position and/or a career in the cosmetology business! This basic cosmetology program is designed to provide instruction, hands-on practical experience, and guidance to develop student knowledge and skills. You will also master the requirements for taking the cosmetology operator license examination.

Course Content:
The curriculum includes theory instruction (250 hours), laboratory demonstrations (350 hours), and clinical practice (900 hours). You will learn about all phases of cosmetology, including hair care (styling, cutting, coloring, and perming); general aesthetics (skin care, makeup, and facials); and general nail technology. You will be taught through lectures, demonstrations, discussion, drills, handouts/assignment sheets, quizzes and tests, and practice on manikins, live models, and clients.

Esthetician Program: 600 Hours
Course Duration: 25-35 weeks. The length of the program depends on the schedule you choose. You can opt to take 30, 24 or 16 hour sessions. 
Designed to prepare you for the esthetician license examination, this program will develop your skills and knowledge for an entry level position in the aesthetics and skin-care market.

Course Content:
The curriculum includes theory instruction and demonstration (275 hours), and clinical practice (325 hours). You will learn about facials and skin-care treatments, waxing, makeup, and information about skin-care equipment and products. You will be taught through lectures, demonstrations, quizzes and tests, handouts/assignment sheets, and practice on live models and clients.

Nail Technician Program: 250 Hours
Course Duration: 11-13 weeks. The length of the program depends on the schedule you choose. You can opt to take 24 or 16 hour sessions.
An introductory and basic training program in nail technology, this course includes theory instruction (110 hours), laboratory and clinical practice (140 hours). It is intended to develop your skills and knowledge and skills for an entry level position in nail technology, as well as preparing you for the nail technician license examination.

Makeup Artistry Program: 40 Hours
Course Duration: 5 weeks
This is an introductory program on makeup artistry which includes 8 hours of theory instruction, 8 hours of demonstration, and 24 hours of clinical practice. Designed to prepare you for an entry level position in makeup artistry services, this program aims to develop your knowledge and skills, and qualify you for a makeup artist certification.
