Summer Arts / Classical Music Programs in CT / NYC area
Mayapple Center for the Arts and Humanities:
Located in Stamford CT (just one hour north of NYC), The Mayapple Center provides 5-day summer programs in the fields of creative writing, music, visual arts, humanities, and theatre. Taught by experienced faculty who are leading specialists in their respective fields, our summer arts programs are open to adults with two years of college experience. In addition, we offer cultural literacy weekend programs for youth, 30-day artist residencies, humanities forums, humanitarian retreats, and study abroad programs.
Summer & Year-Round Arts Programs:
The Mayapple Center offers separate programs in a variety of categories for different age groups and skill levels that promote cultural and intellectual vitality in the twenty-first century. These programs include:
- Adult programs in the areas of creative writing, visual arts, music, humanities, and theatre for those over the age of 18 with two years of college experience
- Weekend programs for middle school, high school, and college students aimed to increase cultural literacy
- 30 day residencies for artists and scholars who are leading specialists in their fields
- Humanities forums that discuss the state of the arts and humanities in the 21st century and propose creative solutions to twenty-first century issues
- Study abroad programs for high school students and adults of all ages thematically targeted to promote study of the arts and humanities and provide hands-on instruction in the visual arts, creative writing, music, theatre, and humanities
- Humanitarian retreats for individuals from various human rights organizations that focus on music, writing, and art therapy; these retreats are staffed by volunteers and are tuition-free

PAST is a non-profit educational and research team that puts together partnerships on compelling projects in Anthropology and makes the work available to students and the public through field schools, documentary film and interactive web access. Using the Tools of Creative Writing, Memoir, Art, Photography, Storytelling and Mindfulness.We teach from the point of view that people are by nature creative and that creativity, like DNA, is unique to each individual. We believe that in the right atmosphere and with the right tools anyone can tap into the creative stream that runs through us all.
To help you access and develop your creativity, we have developed a progression of exercises and techniques that explore sense perceptions, free-form writing and drawing, associative thinking, mapmaking, constructive daydreaming, memory, collage, and photography.
The only requirements for attending our workshops are curiosity and a desire to explore the creative spirit inherent to us all.
