Japanese Environmental Pollution - The Japanese government has made environmental responsibility a national goal. They are confronting two of the most serious threats to the earth, depletion of the ozone layer and the "greenhouse" effect. Japanese companies have developed ambitious anti-aerosol and other damaging agent reducing campaigns to eliminate their use. The Japanese now play a major role in the world's struggle to protect the environment. Japan is helping the international efforts to combat these problems through advanced technologies for greater energy efficiency, and the development of new energy resources. More than 70% of the Japanese people believe protection of the environment is a priority even at the expense of economic growth.
