The commitment of California State University in Los Angeles to academic excellence provides unlimited learning opportunities. Our faculty, considered some of the most gifted and honored educators in the nation, is dedicated to developing the potential of each student. The University works to facilitate student-professor interaction, strengthen individual learning and enhance team-building. The diversity and varied learning and social experiences that abound at Cal State L.A. are equally important for educational enrichment. We strongly believe that these conditions are essential for success in a world of formidable tasks and responsibilities. In 1995, astronaut and physicist Sam Durrance took the University beyond our earth's boundaries when he carried the Cal State L.A. President's Medallion into space on the Shuttle Endeavour. For students at California State University, the opportunities are equally boundless.
Cal State LA offers a wide range of undergradute and graduate certificate, diploma and degree progams in our six schools: Arts and Letters, Business and Economics, Education, Engineering, Natural and Social Science and Health and Human Services. These offer nationally recognized science, arts, business, criminal justice, engineering, nursing, education, and humanities certificates, diplomas and degree programs, among others, led by an award-winning faculty. The University received its most recent Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accreditation in 1999 for the maximum term of 10 years. All eligible academic programs that have applied for accreditation from the relevant professional organizations have received accreditation.
University Student Housing offers 192 fully furnished apartments. Each apartment has a large living room and dining area as well as a private bathroom with shower. Kitchens include all major appliances. Each bedroom is equipped with two beds, closets and desks.
Phase I
The Phase I complex consists of 92, 2-bedroom apartments. A centrally located community center houses the Residence Life Office, a game room, academic center, and laundry facilities. The Residence Life Office coordinates the many programs and resources which enhance the unique experience of university community living.
Phase II
The Phase II complex consists of five buildings (pods). Each pod includes 8, 2 bedroom apartments and 12, 4-bedroom apartments. Every pod has its own laundry facility for resident use. The Housing Administration office and Community Information Desk are located in the Phase II Community Center. A Meeting Room and Lounge provide the setting for a variety of our events and activities as well as a place for you to relax.
