University of Westminster is located in the heart of London and is one of England's leading Universities. The University's four teaching sites in central London and Harrow offer a broad range of courses and professional development programmes. The University of Westminster teaches more than 22,000 students undertaking degrees, Masters, research, professional programmes and short courses. Many study part-time during the day or evening.

We offer a wide range of Bachelor's, Master's, MBA, Diplomas and PhD programmes from English literature, law, biomedical sciences and architecture to acupuncture, sports science, e-commerce, business, tourism and urban development, fashion, film, photography, media and music.

As an overseas student, the Study Abroad Programme allows you to spend a semester or a full academic year studying undergraduate modules (classes) alongside British and other international students. Students from all over the world join our Study Abroad Programme and are integrated fully into both the academic and social life of the University.

From Architecture to Communication, and Psychology to Business Studies you can combine four modules (classes) each semester from a huge range of subject areas, and may also have the opportunity to do an academically assessed work placement as part of your study abroad experience.

The Study Abroad Unit will work with you to ensure you select the classes to suit your needs. You can choose to start your programme in semester one, starting in late September, or semester two, starting in early February. Special arrangements can be made for students in the first semester who have an academic requirement to be back home by January. There is also an option to study for a full year.

If English is not your first language you can attend pre-sessional language courses before joining classes. To make the most of your experience, a comprehensive orientation programme is held at the start of each session to inform you of all you need to know. The programme covers a wide range of advice, from the academic differences of studying in the UK to welfare and where to go out on London.

The three central London campuses of Marylebone, Regent and Cavendish are located in the heart in London's famous 'West End', whilst the Harrow campus offers a more peaceful environment that is still only a short tube journey away from the centre.

It's quite possible to develop a varied and interesting lifestyle in London on a budget. With substantial student discounts and so many of the city's most appealing attractions being free, you'll always find ways to make your money go further.

Your studies will be enhanced by the large number of important collections within easy reach: the University of London Library, the British Library, as well as the archives of many institutions and professional bodies are all nearby.

This means that not only are our courses up-to-date with the latest industry developments, we are also in a good position to assist students with work placements and careers advice. There are also many part-time work opportunities in London for those students wishing to supplement their income whilst studying (international students are usually permitted to work up to 20 hours a week during term-time).

While you are studying at the University of Westminster, you have different accommodation options. You can either apply for University Halls of Residence or stay in privately rented accommodation

University Halls of Residence
Accommodation is in the form of single study bedrooms, in a range of University halls of residence across London. All the halls are self-catering with fully fitted shared kitchens and communal areas. A range of hot and cold meals is available at reasonable prices from the refectories and cafes in the University's teaching buildings. All the halls of residence have 24 hours security and resident tutors responsible for student welfare. They are all well served by public transport. Whichever hall you live in you will have a chance to meet students from different disciplines, backgrounds and cultures, enhancing the whole Study Abroad experience. 

As a resident, you need to provide your own bedding, cutlery and crockery (this can be bought cheaply locally). A receptionist normally staffs the halls during the day and a security guard at night.

Privately rented accommodation
Many international students choose to live in privately rented accommodation. The University provides free help and advice once you have arrived. Privately rented accommodation is plentiful in London, but the search for the right place will probably take you a few days.

The University Student Housing Services can give you more detailed information on where to look, landlords, tenancy agreements and the various areas of London. Their office is based at the Marylebone site.

Home Stay
The University is also able to arrange a home stay with a family in London through a company whose services we have used for a number of years. Home stay offers you the opportunity to experience at first hand life in an English household.
