Dublin City University:
Dublin City University (DCU) is a university situated in Glasnevin on the Northside of Dublin in Ireland. Created as the National Institute for Higher Education, Dublin in 1975, it enrolled its first students in 1980 and was elevated to university status in 1989 by statute. DCU is committed to the provision of taught and research programmes that are of the highest academic standard, and delivered in a welcoming and flexible learning environment. We offer a wide range of degree programs at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

The university has a particularly strong research record, it is a research led university, and has regularly been recorded as bringing in more research income per members of faculty - or indeed as a percentage of total income - than any other university in Ireland. Its research team working on sensors at the National Centre for Sensor Research is considered one of the best in the world.

Accommodation:

DCU offers two styles of accommodation for first year students. Larkfield Apartments has 126 units, each with two study bedrooms and a shared bathroom and kitchenette. Hampstead Apartments contain 57 apartments, each with five en-suite bedrooms and a shared living/kitchen/dining area. The residences are served by a central reception, run by Campus Residences Limited. On campus accommodation is available to full-time DCU students. Current undergraduate students are allocated rooms in Hampstead and College Park Apartments.

Off-campus accommodation
For students who decide to live off-campus, Campus Residences Limited provides an online list of houses in the area. International students are advised to contact our office prior to arrival for further information on how to collect a list once you have arrived and where to find temporary accommodation for your first couple of nights here in Dublin.

Dublin City University is situated on an 85 acre campus three miles north of the River Liffey in the city centre and just a 15-minute drive from Dublin airport. With the city just a 10-minute bus drive away, students of DCU have the best of both worlds: the social and cultural benefits of city life, but with the security and vibrancy of a university campus built very much for today.

Dublin City University is delighted to offer a brand-new post-graduate MA in Comparative Literature. This exciting new Master of Arts degree is designed to further the student's knowledge and proficiency in English literature. This programme offers graduates in languages, and related arts and humanities subjects, a cross-disciplinary, inter-medial training, which includes theoretical aspects and practical analysis of literature. This degree can be undertaken on a full-time or part-time basis.

DCU is the only Irish university offering such a degree. Graduates in languages and related arts and humanities subjects now have the opportunity to combine their chosen disciplines in their postgraduate studies. Some of the students who have been awarded this MA have gone on to do a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature. Others are now literary critics, writers, editors working with publishers, teachers, academics, librarians and cultural event organisers.

Dublin International Foundation College (DIFC) offers university preparation undergraduate and graduate foundation courses as a pathway to top universities in Ireland and the UK. We are located on the South Circular Road in Dublin, just a 15 minute walk from the city centre. There are currently 5,000 students on campus, studying on a full & part-time basis.
