Our school shares the same building as Everest College in the heart of downtown Portland, Oregon. Our school features a large computer lab, a study library, indoor and outdoor student lounges, and large classrooms.
Oregon is world famous for its natural beauty, its variety of activities and events, and its friendly people. Portland has about 1.5 million people so it has all the benefits of a big city. However, it has a friendly, small town feel. Portland is a beautiful, very clean and safe city. In addition, Portland is close to many wonderful natural sites. It takes just one hour to go to the Pacific Coast, Mt. Hood and the Columbia River Gorge.
Portland is not an expensive city. Portland has the lowest cost of living, which includes food, housing, transportation, and entertainment, of any large city on the American West Coast. Portland has all the big city activities like concerts and sporting events, but it has a small town feel because it is friendly and so easy to get around.
At our school we plan events and activities so that students can enjoy the many benefits of Portland life, such as trips to the Oregon Coast and Mt. Hood.

Southern States University (SSU) is a private American university founded in 1983 which has 3 campuses in Southern California (in San Diego, and Newport Beach, south of Los Angeles). Our mission is to provide international students with English language instruction of the highest quality. We offer eight levels of intensive English courses for beginners through to advanced English language studies, as well as TOEFL test preparation classes.
Our approach gives students the opportunity to improve reading, writing, grammar, conversation, pronunciation, TOEFL, and Business English. SSU’s stimulating and productive learning environment is well-suited for preparing students for continued success in their future personal, academic, and professional pursuits.
Our Intensive English Program prices start at $190/4 weeks at our Fashion Valley campus with early morning classes from 7:30 am-12:00 pm.
SSU also provides Business Administration Degree programs (BBA and MBA) for domestic and international students.
All programs and locations are fully accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).
