The Academy of Couture Art (ACA) is a fashion design school in Los Angeles, California offering bachelor degree, associate degree & certificate programs as well as professional development workshops for fashion industry professionals. ACA Design Prep Programs:
For ages 14 – 18 (and mature 12 – 13) interested in exploring the arts and professions of high fashion design, year round design prep programs offer unique opportunities to study at the only Design College of Haute Couture in the U.S., Academy of Couture Art.

These programs promote refinement, humbleness, and dignity with a love for learning and specialize in the transformation of young teen creators into mature sophisticated artists through the high level techniques reflected in Haute Couture Fashion.

Participants are able to express themselves as fashion artists through hands-on projects training in elegant and sophisticated luxury design aesthetics that prepare for those developed throughout ACA professionally geared Associate and Bachelor degree programs. In an intimate class setting, students work one-on-one with instructors for personalized, in-depth learning scaled to student levels and abilities.

The results achieved are actualizations of in-born dreams, products that stand out from the crowd, matured confidence, and a real world sense of the two main fashion industry professions of Fashion Design and Pattern Design. Programs end with gallery and/or mini fashion show viewings.The techniques explored are the foundations of precision and excellence that define Haute Couture.

Topics of these programs include one or more of the following:

- Couture Fashion Sketching: Explore the art of Haute Couture Fashion Illustration with the fundamentals of elegant designs. Develop sophisticated sketches with luxurious line, proportion, and balance starting with the fashion face, hair, hands, and feet using exclusive French Couture Artistic methods in pencil.

- Couture Pattern Design: Make elegant, luxury finish French couture clothes. Discover the secrets of measurement that set French Couture apart with its impeccable fit results.

- European Color Lab: Foster your creativity through analysis of color schemes and special use of intensity, value, and hue as developed in Western oil painting tradition.

- Modèle Vivant: Understand the elements of the human figure and how to render a three dimensional figure on a two dimensional surface. Focus on the proportions of the human figure, gesture, rhythm, and anatomy starting from objects of different textures in perspective.

- Couture Embellishment: Transform inexpensive fabric and accessories into creative luxurious designs involving couture beading, etc.

- Mini Fashion Show: Display your elegant creation on the mini fashion runway and include pictures on the red carpet in design portfolios.
