Acorn International Summer School, Bristol:
Summer camps for both international and British students in 2016! Acorn International is a unique, accredited family-run summer boarding school in the south west of England that provides exclusive programmes for children ages 5-15.

International Summer School for Children ages 5-15:
Our summer courses are held in July and August. Students can attend for 2 or 4 weeks. We provide summer boarding courses especially designed for Juniors (ages 5-11) and Seniors (ages 11-15). 

- Academic English for international students combined with specialist sports tuition, fun activities and weekend excursions

- Academic tuition for British children in subjects from the British Primary Curriculum combined with specialist sports tuition, fun activities & weekend excursions 

Academic English & Primary Subject Tuition for International Students:
We offer one standard academic course for international students which is then adapted and modified, depending on the age and ability of students. It combines 20 hours of academic English and cross-curriuclar primary subject tuition with 5 hours of specialist sports lessons.

Subjects offered include science, computers, music, sport, British studies, drama, environmental science, and art & design.

Lessons are taught by experienced, native-speaking teachers and include a range of teaching techniques, such as interactive activities, group work, pair work, use of ICT, role play and project work. This aims to build on the students’ speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in a fun and interactive way. 

The academic course also incorporates a range of exciting field trips that compliment and build upon the topics studied in the classroom. Our experience and our commitment to working with children in small groups meas that you can rest assured that you child will receive the highest-quality teaching and care while they stay in England.

Tuition for British Children:
All of our morning sessions are hands-on, engaging and interesting and include the full range of subjects from the British Primary Curriculum such as science, arts and crafts, sport, cookery, drama, ICT, music, story writing and more.

After an inspiring and engaging morning of sessions led by our fully qualified primary trained teachers, afternoons are then spent participating in specialist sports classes, junior adventure activities, educational and leisure trips or sometimes winding down with a swim in our on site pool or a walk in the countryside with members of our highly experienced staff!

International children mix with native British children to enable the best opportunities to use and improve their English, in particular their vocabulary and accent.


Evenings and Weekend Activities for ages 5-15:

Activities include:
- Arts and crafts; Use of sports facilities; Music sessions; Cinema; Bowling; Shopping; Beach games; Pamper evening; Treasure hunt; BBQs; Local walks; DVD Evenings with popcorn; Quizzes and discos.


The summer school prides itself on being tailored to the exact needs of young children, trips and excursions will always be age appropriate, shopping sessions will be matched to the age of the child – we understand that the shopping requests of a 5 year old are often very different to a 15 year old! Meals, snacks and evening supper are all focused on the dietary needs of young children.


Now offering an Optional Day Trip to London!
For just £99, children travel in comfort by high-speed train to the capital city where they view many of the sites and scenes of London. Traveling by open-top bus they will be able to take many photos. They will walk around Trafalgar Square before walking up The Mall to Buckingham Palace, stopping on the way for a picnic lunch in St James’ Park.

The train leaves from King’s Cross - the station featured in the Harry Potter saga - and children will be able to see the famous platform where he catches the train to Hogwarts! A fabulous day out and one not to be missed!
