We opened TLI English school in Edinburgh in 1992, after deciding to come home to Scotland after many years teaching abroad. TLI School of English is a family run school and much of our teaching is done by our experienced family team. This makes us very motivated and determined to give our students what they need. In total, our tutors have more than 80 years experience between them. Our beautiful location in Edinburgh are a lovely environment in which to study and we now offer English Language Courses, TEFL courses, and Exam preparation courses.

We won't waste your money by giving you lots of exercises to do in class when you could be practising to speak. We only employ experienced teachers to help us so if you aren't being taught by one of the family you can be sure that your teacher is properly qualifed, experienced and well motivated. We will also make sure that the type of things you study are relevant to you and to improving your overall level of English.

Accommodation:

If you need accommodation while studying with us we can offer home stay accommodation in a private house in Edinburgh.

NB. We only offer home stay accommodation for students aged 16 and over.

The home stay accommodation we arrange is with a family selected by TLI English school. Home stay accommodation can be with a family, a couple or even a single person. We CANNOT guarantee which type of household you will be staying with.

As part of your home stay accommodation you will be given 16 meals per week. That is, breakfast and an evening meal from Monday until Friday and breakfast, lunch and an evening meal at the weekends. Sometimes, your host person or family will allow you to cook for yourself and / or help yourself to snacks etc.. in the kitchen. Remember that it is a good idea to book your accommodation early. During busy times you may have to share a room. All rooms, however, have a desk for you to work at and do your homework, a wardrobe for you
to keep your clothes in and a window with curtains. Sometimes your room will have a television and even a DVD player. Although this is sometimes the case, we cannot guarantee this.

Activities:

Many of the events that we organise are in the school itself. These include BBQs in the school garden, Film afternoons, Quiz nights. In addition to these events, we also offer walks and tours of the city and local monuments and nights out to a local Scottish pub.
