New York Language Center:
New York Language Center (NYLC) provides unparalleled English language instruction to students from around the world. We have four easily-accessible locations throughout New York City - in Midtown Manhattan, Upper West Side Manhattan, The Bronx and Jackson Heights in Queens. We provide a range of quality English as a Second Language (ESL) programs for adult learners at all levels - from total beginner to advanced. F1 visa / I-20 students are accepted at New York Language Center in any Intensive Language Program of English.

English Courses in NYC:
For beginner, intermediate & advanced learners. Courses vary by location.

• Intensive English Program (ILP):
20 hours of classes per week (Monday - Friday: morning & afternoon)

Available to students of all levels, this intensive English course aims to help you improve the key skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing by interacting in English in real-life settings and through new themes each week.

You will focus on integrated skills and work with authentic materials such as podcasts, online videos, and newspaper articles.

Available at: Midtown Manhattan, Upper West Side Manhattan & Jackson Heights in Queens. 

• Semi-intensive ESL Program:
16 hours of classes each week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: morning & afternoon) 

This is an integrated skills program that combines listening, speaking, writing, and reading. You will progress through a series of levels, based on the results of your initial placement test.

• Private English Lessons:
You must book a minimum of 5 hours of private English tutoring. We offer flexible scheduling with classes available at evenings and weekends.

Ideal for students with limited schedules or those who would like to focus on a particular area, private English lessons allow you to learn quickly and effectively with the undivided attention of your teacher. Our professional instructors can customize the content of your classes to meet your needs.

• TOEFL Preparation & Pre-TOEFL Preparation:
NYLC can help you to achieve a good score on your TOEFL iBT test. You must be at Upper Intermediate level to enter Pre-TOEFL and at a Post Advanced level of English to begin the program. If you are joining the school for the first time, we will give you an entrance test to determine your current level.

Our TOEFL preparation program begins with a developmental skills class and serves as a comprehensive and stimulating review class. While there is a focus on grammar, it promotes the improvement of all English language skills.

• Business English Classes:
Our Business English classes are designed to help you to learn the vocabulary and expressions you need for work situations, such as negotiations, meetings, and telephone conversations.

In addition, you learn how to interact with colleagues and clients in English through role plays and dialogues. The class includes group work involving case studies where students discuss company issues and brainstorm for solutions. 

• Weekend English Course:
Our weekend English classes consists of 4 hours per week on either Saturday or Sunday. Our school in The Bronx offers a 10-week course while our Jackson Heights and Upper West Side school offer an 8-week course.

• Part-time ESL Programs:
- Daytime English Classes: 5 weeks per session / 10 hours per week (Monday-Friday)
- Evening English Classes: 6 weeks per session / 8 hours per week (Monday-Thursday)

• Everyday English Program:
8 hours of classes per week (Monday-Thursday)

Designed for students who live and work in New York, this comprehensive ESL program focuses on building your basic English skills to increase your confidence in the workplace, in the community and at home. You will practice your speaking, listening, writing and reading skills.

Available at: Upper West Side Manhattan & Jackson Heights in Queens.

• Explore New York City - An ESL Writing Course:
This course aims to improve the basic English skills you need for proper writing, sentence structure, spelling, and punctuation. You will learn through brief but clear explanations and a myriad of exercises in which you can practice the skills you have learned, receive feedback and apply it to your writing. 

In addition, you go on excursions throughout New York and write about your experiences.

English Language Courses for Juniors - Summer & Year-Round:
• ESL programs for small groups of 10-15 juniors / teenagers from educational tour agents.
• ESL programs for individual juniors / teenagers accompanied by a guardian in NY.
