The Paintbrush, Chicago
Courses / Programs
The Paintbrush, opened in 2005, is a children's art studio owned by sisters Melanie and Mindy Apel in Lakeview on the North Side of Chicago, Cook County, IL. At The Paintbrush, kids do more than just paint. Starting at 18 months old, kids learn about famous artists, listen to music and create their own inspired works of art and projects inspired by the artists' styles. The Paintbrush offers a selection of classes geared to different ages along with workshops and summer camp. Classes are ongoing, so kids can join anytime.
The mission of The Paintbrush is to introduce young children to the wonderful world of art. The main goal is to teach kids to love art and have an understanding of the artists they study and whose works inspire their own creations.
Art Classes for Children Ages 18 months to 8 years:
- Tiny Artists: 18 months - 4 years (parent / tot interaction)
- Apprentices: 3-4-years with participting parent (45 minutes)
- Little Masters: Drop-off for children ages 4-8 years (1 hour - Any class with fewer than 2 children enrolled will meet for 45 minutes)
- Drawing Class: 5 years+ (1 hour - FALL I: 6 weeks; FALL II: 9 weeks; FALL I&II Combo Pack: 15 weeks)

North Park Elementary School (NPES) was founded in 1980 to create an affordable alternative for parents who wanted to provide top quality kindergarten through to eighth grade elementary school education within the City of Chicago in Cook County. A group of founding parents in the North Park neighborhood banded together to create the fledgling school with hope, high expectations and a great deal of hard work. Given our convenient Northside location, we typically serve families on the Northside of Chicago, from Lake View, North Center, Lincoln Square, Old Irving Park and even Evanston. Delphi Academy of Chicago is an independent, co-educational, non-sectarian day school that offers a preschool through to eighth grade program. The campus is located in Lombard, a suburb just 30 miles west of Chicago. Delphi Academy of Chicago is one of several schools in the Delphi Schools Network, a group of independent schools sharing uniquely developed curriculum and teaching methods. The Russian School of Mathematics (RSM) was created in Boston 15 years ago. Today, RSM has over 6,000 students in more than a dozen branches located in 5 states. This fall, we are very excited to be opening a Russian School of Mathematics in Naperville, IL, just 30 miles west of Chicago. RSM provides a unique, award-winning after-school mathematics enrichment program, based on the best practices of advanced math schools in Russia and Europe and adapted to the U.S. educational environment. We teach students at all levels - elementary school, middle school, high school and home school. We offer a whole academic year program, with weekly classes and homework.
The RSM program was developed based on classical traditions of systematic math education.
