Shannon:
Shannon College boasts an international airport on its doorstep, with daily flights to cities in Europe, the USA, and Asia. It is also possible to fly from Shannon to Dublin in Ireland, where onward flight connections to many other destinations around the world are available. Aside from the neighbouring airport, Shannon has excellent travel connections within the country. Trains between Dublin and nearby Limerick and Ennis are available on a daily basis as are inter city bus connections that enable passengers to travel onwards from Shannon. Car owners can take the primary N18 route if they wish to travel to Shannon from Galway, Ennis or Limerick.
All first-year students are allocated a place in college-organised student housing located in Bunratty village close to Shannon Town. Five students share each house and each house comprises two en-suite bedrooms, one single bedroom, bathroom, deluxe kitchen, living-room and garden. In addition, leisure facilities such as swimming-pool, fully-equipped gymnasium and games room are located adjacent to the student houses and are available for students’ use.
Private rented accommodation is also available in Shannon town. Students with their own transport can also elect to live in nearby Ennis or Limerick. However, first year students are expected (depending on their age and marital circumstances) to avail of the residential accommodation, as it enables them to get to know their fellow classmates and helps them to build up a social circle of friends quickly. Adapting to life at college and the challenges of living away from home and family is made easier if students have a group of friends at college to rely on.
International students coming to Ireland as first year students on the Bachelor of Business Studies degree programme are guaranteed accommodation in college apartments.
