NCST's Commercial Truck Driving curriculum has been designed to be one of the industry's leading programs. Our course qualifies students for various entry-level positions as drivers in over-the-road or local driving vehicles.

At NCST, focus is placed on basic information about trucks, truck driving and the trucking industry. In addition, students are taught about the fundamentals of operating trucks and tractor-trailers. While prior education or experience is not required, certain qualifications must be met by all who are interested in entering NCST's driving program.

Graduate Career Opportunities:
Upon completion, graduates of the Commercial Truck Driving program will have the skills to obtain an entry-level position as a:

- Van driver
- Dump truck driver
- Many other vehicles relating to the transportation industry

Heavy Equipment Operations w/Commercial Truck Driving:
Through the Heavy Equipment Operations w/Commercial Truck Driving training program, students may obtain the training to give them the capability and qualifications to operate a variety of light and heavy equipment used in the construction and transportation industries. In addition, graduates, through learning the course material, will be trained to drive a tractor-trailer in order to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

The use of various teaching methods will allow students to learn the course material in several manners. A mix of theory classes provides the instruction, and hands-on practice gives students valuable time working with real equipment. New Castle School of Trades also supplements these methods with print reading, soils, and finishing and grading procedures.

By utilizing these methods, graduates will be able to operate a tractor-trailer, fork truck, dump truck, bulldozer, backhoe, front loader, light rigging, excavator or tractor, and have the ability to maneuver a trailer for the loading and unloading of equipment and materials.
