Homestay
Staying with a Canadian family is the fastest way to improve your English. VanWest College has over 10 years of experience in providing safe, comfortable and friendly host families. All families have been interviewed, visited prior to placement and evaluated. Our Homestay Coordinator is available on-site to provide assistance to students.

Self-Catering
Vancouver offers a wide range of affordable alternative accommodations. Examples of these include: hotels, The YMCA of Greater Vancouver, the international youth hostels, bed and breakfast accommodation, rooming houses, apartment (private and semi private) and independant homestay.

Vancouver and Kelowna offer modern and easy to use transportation facilities. They include the Vancouver and Kelowna International Airports, intercity bus services, and national rail services.

Our airport pick-up service is performed by Language Limousine. At the airport arrival greeting area, look for a large yellow sign with your name on it.

Our Activity Coordinator organizes weekend trips to Victoria, located on Vancouver Island (1.5 hours by ferry), Seattle (located in the United States, just 2 hours from Vancouver) and Whistler (the world famous ski resort, 2 hours from Vancouver).

Learning English in Real World Situations
Learning English in Vancouver means more than coming to class every day. A large part of your experience will be after school hours when you will meet new friends and enjoy all that Vancouver and Kelowna have to offer. We organize a variety of activities to suit people of all nationalities and interests.

Some activities include hockey games, pub nights, festivals, concerts, hiking, biking, cultural days, yoga, restaurants, skating, skiing, movie nights, football games, beach parties and free conversation club (Monday – Thursday). We speak English only at all activities!

School Events
School events are also organized regularly to bring students together. Such events include: guest speakers, monthly parties, boat cruises, disco nights, barbecue dinners on the beach, etc.
