Online Training Courses:

Award in Education and Training Level 3 (replaces PTLLS)

This course is designed for those new to teaching and training or not in a full time teaching role. . This is a one week course delivered through online assignments and discussion forum, dedicated tutor support, and one workshop for carrying out a teaching session. This is an introductory course which will give a threshold status to teach. The course is accredited by TQUK.

Certificate in Education and Training Level 4

This is designed for those who are training in companies or coaching others but who are not carrying out a full teaching role. It is best suited to those who are using training manuals or other materials but who are not required to have any input in curriculum design. The course is conducted online and is self paced; your assignments and teaching aids are available on the Moodle Site. You will need to complete 30 hours of teaching or training and 3 of these need to be observed. Accredited by Pearson.

 Diploma in Education and Training Level 5

This course requires participants to be in a full teaching role and to show that they are developing materials. Need to have access to at least 100 hours of teaching practice, eight of these hours need to be observed. The course is conducted online and is self paced; your assignments and teaching aids are available on the Moodle Site. The course takes on average 6 to 12 months to complete. Accredited by Pearson

Assessor Award:

Accredited by TQUK or Pearson. Ideal for those wanting to be NVQ Assessors.

The Assessor Award is a generic course for anyone involved in assessing students, especially criterion-based qualifications or NVQs. Online course with tutor guidance. You will also have the opportunity to share ideas and get support from your fellow trainee assessors through our online forum. The course should take about 3 months to complete, with 30 hours of work.

The student works through the course at their own pace. We suggest starting with the first unit, reading through the notes, taking part in discussion topics, and then submitting the assignments. This is the knowledge and theory unit. The student can then choose to do unit 2 or 3 or both. Unit 2 is aimed at those assessing candidates in the workplace carrying out their everyday duties. Unit 3 is aimed at those carrying out assessments in the classroom or other training environments.

IQA:

Internal Quality of Assurance- Level 4 qualification accredited by Pearson (2 units) and TQUK (3 units)

This qualification was formerly known as the Internal Verifier Award or the V1. If you already hold a D34 or V1 qualification these are still valid and you simply need to show that you are updating your practice. The course is for people who verify the work of other assessors, the third unit is aimed at those who lead the verification process and support other verifiers (this would normally be in a larger organisation). For unit 2 the student needs to monitor a minimum of two assessors each with a minimum of two candidates of their own. Assessment activities may include sampling, observations and standardisation meetings.

The course is an online and distance learning. The student works through the course at their own pace. We suggest starting with the first unit, reading through the notes, taking part in discussion topics, and then submitting the assignments. This is the knowledge and theory unit. The student can then choose to do only unit 2 or both units 2 and 3. Unit 2 is aimed at those who will be quality assuring assessment practices. This is a full award. However some people may find it beneficial to also complete the third unit which is aimed at those who lead the verification process but must be in a position where this is already happening, as they need to provide evidence of activities with other verifiers.

EQA:

External Quality of Assurance- Level 4 qualification accredited by TQUK.
The first unit covers the knowledge required of an EQA and enables you to demonstrate that you have the potential for employment as an EV. The course is suitable:

1) If you are considering becoming a practising EQA, the course will ensure you have the required qualification to work with Awarding Bodies, who will then facilitate your completion of the practical unit
2) As evidence of your CPD (continuing professional development) for quality assurance.
3) To give you confidence in your own ability for assuring quality programmes.

The full EQA qualification is also available. This costs £450 for Units 1 and 2. Unit 2 is the collection of evidence from carrying out external verification in a centre and therefore you must have the opportunity of acting in an EV capacity. It does not matter which awarding organisation as all will have similar processes.

Award in English for Literacy and Language teaching


The course is suited to learners looking to develop their understanding of the English language, including spoken and written English, particularly with a view to applying these skills in the teaching of literacy and language.
 There are four units, each worth 3 credits and all four units must completed to achieve the qualification. The units are:
Analysing English language for literacy and language teaching 
Reading skills for literacy and language teaching Learning outcomes
Speaking and listening skills for literacy and language teaching
Writing skills for literacy and language teaching

Award in Mathematics for Numeracy teaching

The course is suited to learners wishing to gain knowledge and personal skills in Maths, including those looking for entry to specialist teaching qualifications.
There are three units, each worth 6 credits.

This is a Level 5 qualification. You will study leadership & management theories & principles, which will give you a good foundation for understanding the management role. The Award is targeted at those wanting to gain an introduction to management and leadership skills, qualities and knowledge required for a management role.

The Diploma in management and leadership course is a level 5 self paced online course accredited by TQUK, there are no set start dates and the course can begin at any time. The course consists of seven units which are assessed by written assignments:
