The Medical Interpreting and Translating Institute Online (MiTio):
The Medical Interpreting and Translating Institute Online (MiTio) located in Georgia, USA offers an online certificate / diploma program that is designed to provide the workforce skills necessary to become a professional caliber medical interpreter. We offer certificate courses in interpreting, translating as well as medical background cerficate courses in anatomy and physiology and medical terminology.

The course is language neutral, all of the material is in English, the student will translate / interpret materials into their other language.
Students are expected to participate in weekly telephone practice sessions to improve their interpreting skills, and in online discussion boards.
Open Enrollment:
MiTio students can enroll and start the program at any time during the year. The program is self paced and designed to be completed within 6 weeks; however, students are allowed up to 6 months to complete the course. The courses are all online, which means the student must have access to the internet throughout the program.

Who Can Enroll?
Our programs in medical interpreting and translating are for multilingual professionals who are able to speak, read, and write English and another Language fluently. Open to interpreters, translators, bilingual health workers, nurses, doctors, hospital administrators, therapists, social workers, and anyone interested in improving the quality of bilingual health care.
Students must be fully bilingual that means that you are fluent in English and another language such as Spanish and you can speak, read, and write in both languages with the fluency of a native. MiTio will assist students requiring LTI testing.
Certification:
Upon completion, the student obtains a certificate in Medical Interpreting or Translating from MiTio. Interpreting Certification is granted by the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters. Translation Certification is granted by the American Translators Association.

- MiTio is Authorized by the Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission (NPEC)
- MiTio is seeking Accreditation by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC)
- MiTio is listed in the training notice for CHIA and IMIA
