City College of San Francisco:
City College of San Francisco (CCSF), located in the San Francisco Bay Area, Northern California, on the West Coast of America, is an accredited two-year community college offering Certificate and Associate degree programs to both national and international students in Nursing, Culinary Arts and Hospitality Studies, Travel and Tourism, Environmental Horticulture and Floristry and more. Students attend City College for a variety of reasons. You can earn a degree or certificate, earn the credits needed to transfer to a four-year college or university or gain basic skills. Whatever your goals or needs, becoming a City College student will help you meet them.
City College of San Francisco is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of School and Colleges (WASC), an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education.
International Students:
City College of San Francisco welcomes International Students from throughout the world. Our International Student Programs encompass the Academic and Intensive English Programs. There are currently over 1200 students from 90 countries studying at our various campuses. Their presence complements a broad mosaic of multi-ethnic students from San Francisco.
The mission of the International Student Programs is to:
- Support and assist all international students in successfully achieving their educational goals
- Provide seamless coordinated service to current and prospective students in a friendly, supportive and professional manner
- Promote international/global awareness and intercultural understanding through development and implementation of programs/events that integrate international students into the CCSF community
Student Accommodation:
Homestay:
These are carefully selected families who provide a furnished single room with two meals per day or breakfast only. This type of housing gives students the opportunity to observe and participate in an American household while staying with a family. As part of the household, students are usually included in family social activities, and may be expected to perform simple chores such as helping at mealtime, keeping their room clean, and doing their laundry. Students can learn more about American culture and are more easily immersed in life in the United States.
Residence clubs:
These are apartment-style hotels that either include meals or have kitchen facilities. They offer recreational service, maid service, and linen service. They are a good place to meet people from all over the world. They are safe, friendly, conveniently located, and relatively inexpensive. Most have weekly and monthly rates. Most residence clubs are located in the downtown San Francisco area and welcome both men and women. Residence clubs require application fees and security deposits.
Shared housing:
Students who wish to share an apartment with other students or to rent a room from people who need a room-mate, can utilize the Bulletin Board in the International Student office (Cloud Hall, Rm 212), the Student Union, community rental resources, and rental section in the newspaper. The rent for each person ranges from $500 to $800 per month, depending upon the number of people who share an apartment. The shared housing option normally requires the student to meet with the landlord who may ask for a lump sum of money before moving in. In addition, it may take awhile to find appropriate housing. Students often choose this option of housing after they have already been in San Francisco for a while.
