We offer undergraduate and graduate Certificate, Degree, and Diploma courses to domistic and international students at our state-of-the-art Port Elizabeth campus. NMMU offers a variety of social and cultural activities, which means you can have fun while you study. There is an extensive range of associations, societies, clubs and facilities, allowing you to make new friends, interact with your fellow students and explore subjects of mutual interest.
Sports Facilities:
Various sports codes – ranging from athletics to surfing – are on offer on national, competitive and social levels. The impressive sports facilities include an athletics stadium with an Olympic standard tartan track, astroturf and grass hockey fields, a heated indoor swimming pool, squash courts, a nine-hole golf course on the George campus, rugby, soccer and cricket fields, tennis courts, and an indoor centre on the main campus that caters for basketball, netball, badminton and volleyball.
NMMU provides comfortable on campus accommodation options. These include the residences on the Summerstrand North and South Campus, Second Avenue, and George Campuses and the two Student Villages, one opposite the north campus and the other is the Post Graduate Student Village on the Summerstrand South Campus which consists of self catering units. As accommodation is limited, early application is essential.
Some students prefer living off campus with relatives or friends to benefit from a home-away-from home situation. Off-campus accommodation options include renting flats and houses or boarding at nearby private residences. NMMU offer a service to assist students in finding off-campus accommodation.
Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) is the largest higher education institution in the Eastern and Southern Cape, with some 25,000 students enrolled at six different campuses or delivery sites – five located in the Nelson Mandela Metropole, and one in the beautiful city of George.
The sites are the Summerstrand North (former PE Technikon Main) and Summerstrand South (former UPE Main) Campuses, Second Avenue (former PE Technikon College) Campus, the George campuses at York Street and Saasveld, the Bird Street Campus, and Vista Campus. The multi-campus structure enables NMMU to be closely involved with, and geographically closer to, the communities it serves.
