Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant program at ACH is designed to provide graduates with the basic front office (administrative) & back office (clinical assisting) skills necessary to qualify for entry-level positions in a variety of out-patient medical facilities. A medical assistant program at ACH prepares individuals to be able to:
- Assume office manager responsibilities and duties
- Become familiar with the physician’s goals
- Communicate and correspond with the public
- Put patients at ease by explaining the physician’s or health practitioner’s instructions
- Maintain patient confidentiality
- Understand basic pharmaceutical principles
- Learn about medical law and adhere to ethical standards
Medical Administrative Assistant
Medical Administrative Assistants manage the day-to-day operations of a medical facility, and are responsible for running a medical office, maintaining medical records, scheduling patients and understanding patient needs. Many Medical Administrative Assistants go on to become medical office managers. Duties performed by a Medical Administrative Assistant may include any combination of the following:
- Appointment scheduling
- Client billing / collections and insurance
- Handling payroll
- Medical records management
- Preparation of forms
- Receiving and directing patients
- Recording patient vital signs
- Transcribing medical records
- Using medical software
Medical Billing and Coding
Medical coders are essential to medical record keeping. Medical coders assign alphanumeric codes to specific injuries, illnesses and medical procedures, using a system of medical coding consistent across the health care system. Doctors and hospitals use the codes for planning and internal data collection, while public agencies and insurance companies require codes to reimburse health care providers.
Pharmacy Technician

Physical Therapy Aide
Physical Therapy Aides are non-licensed persons working under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. They help make therapy sessions more productive, by putting on and removing supportive devices, providing routine treatments, such as diathermy, hydrotherapy, applying hot and cold packs and paraffin bath.
Massage Therapist
Massage therapy is known as the practice of using touch to manipulate the soft-tissue muscles of the body. It is used for a multitude of reasons, including treating painful ailments, decompressing tired and overworked muscles, reducing stress, rehabilitating sports injuries, and promoting general health.
Surgical Technology
The Surgical Technology program at the American College of Healthcare (ACH) in Riverside, California trains students to perform duties before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Courses will guide students through all aspects of the field of surgical technology, including prepping the operating room (OR), sterilizing instrumentation, ensuring equipment works properly, as well as creating and maintaining a sterile work environment for the surgical procedure. Duties performed by a Surgical Technologist may include any combination of the following:
- Assisting during surgery (including passing instruments, holding retractors, cutting sutures, etc.)
- Clean up and restock the operating room once the procedure is completed
- Creating and maintaining the sterile field
