Pharmacy Technician (Online) Certificate Program:

- The California State University, East Bay Pharmacy Technician Certificate prepares aspiring pharmacy technicians for entry-level positions in this critical and fast-growing field. Students who complete the certificate also will be ready to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board's (PTCB) National Certification Exam.

- This certificate course is completed entirely online so if you are interested in continuing your education in this field but your schedule or location prohibits you from coming to campus regularly, then this is the perfect option.

- Offered in partnership with Gatlin Education Services, our certificate's online-only format makes it convenient for anyone in the world, not just those who live or work in the San Francisco East Bay Area. In addition to the comprehensive online coursework, those who take advantage of Cal State East Bay's program will gain practical experience by performing clinical rotations at retail and hospital pharmacies of their choice.

Continuing Education:

Continuing Education is part of the California State East Bay Division of Continuing and International Education Division (DCIE). DCIE is a wholly self-supporting unit that develops and markets its own programs, administers its schedules and registers and enrolls students without general fund support.

- Lorraine C. Zentz CPhT, M.A.

Lorraine has been a pharmacy technician since 1981. She is currently the Colorado State coordinator for NPTA (National Pharmacy Technician Association).

She also holds position with the Colorado Pharmacist Society (CPS) as the chairman-elect for the Technician Academy. She conducts continuing education programs for technicians regionally, statewide and nationally at the annual pharmacy technician convention.

In order to take our online courses, you must have access to a computer and the Internet (a normal dial-up connection is fine). You can access the course contents from any Web-enabled computer.

There are no necessary plug-ins. You do not have to use the same computer to log-in to the course every time. We recommend that you have a word processing program (Microsoft Word is best) and the latest version of Internet Explorer.
