As an integral part of student development at Blackburn College, the work program is a vehicle for personal growth including leadership opportunities and community involvement.

- Blackburn College is the only nationally recognized work college with a student-managed work program wherein students are responsible for the administration of the program including resource allocation, policy formulation, as well as direct supervision of their fellow students.

- All resident students are required to work a minimum of 160 hours each semester in partnership with faculty and staff to help provide virtually all services essential to college operations. Non-residents may petition for approval to participate in the work program and if approved are held to the same requirements as a resident student.
