We also offer a Cosmetology Business Fundamentals course, a Methods of Teaching course for students who wish to become a Cosmetology Instructor, and Continuing Education classes to enable graduates renew their cosmetology license every two years.

Cosmetology Program:
The cosmetology industry is an exciting, adventurous and creative field full of color, fashion, and diversity. The instructors in the Kenneth Shuler Cosmetology program pride themselves in helping students acquire the knowledge and necessary skills to enter the field of hair design, nail technology and facial technology. Never out of style, a career in cosmetology offers outstanding creativity and glamour.

You can do anything from owning a one-person-shop in your home to caring for the beauty and cosmetic needs of the stars on-stage and on-screen. Cosmetology students are required to complete 1500 hours before they can take their state licensing exam. Students typically finish the course in 10 to 20 months, depending on the schedule they choose.

Esthetics Program:
Kenneth Shuler's esthetics program is designed to give students the information they will need to become licensed professionals in the field of esthetics. The pathway to success begins in the classroom. Students will be using Salon Fundamentals for Estheticians for their theory class. This textbook provides students with in-depth information needed to be successful in skin care.

Nail Technology Program:
Nail Technology is one of the fastest growing professions in the beauty industry. This course allows you to express your creativity and artistic abilities. Upon completion of the 600 hour course (this can take anywhere from 8 to 9 months), the student will be prepared to take the state board examination. After passing this examination, the student will receive a license to practice in the nail technology field.

Instructor Training Program:
There are two ways to become a Licensed Instructor in the state of South Carolina. First you must ask yourself whether or not you have been licensed and practicing Cosmetology, Nail Technology, or Esthetics for more than 2 years.

If the answer is yes...
All you will need to do is complete and pass a 45-Hour Methods of Teaching Course and take and pass a written and practical exam.

If the answer is no...
You will need to take and pass a 750-Hour Instructor Training Program and a 45-Hour Methods of Teaching Course. Once those are complete, you will have to take and pass a written and practical exam.

Methods of Teaching Classes:
Teaching cosmetology is a wonderful way to share your expertise and love of the industry with others and to help your profession as well. Receiving your Instructor's License will also allow you to participate in Continuing Education classes in your state. The Methods of Teaching course I am offering will do much more than prepare you for the Board. You will go to your first teaching experience/professional demonstration with confidence.

Milady Business Fundamentals Program:
Kenneth Shuler is the first school on the East coast to offer a business program like this to cosmetology students and without a doubt, we believe in its success. At KS, our students don't just learn the fine art of hair and nail care. They also learn the business side of cosmetology as part of the Milady Business Fundamentals program. We help students with their resumes, assist them in putting together a portfolio for potential employers to see, and teach them basic business skills such as clientele building.

Continuing Education:
Kenneth Shuler offers Continuing Education Classes for licensed cosmetologists renewing their licenses. These classes are approved by the South Carolina State Board of Cosmetology.
