Beginning Literacy (Level 1):
This class meets: Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-1:45pm (19 hours/week) - 8 week session
This course is designed for students who have little or no background in English. Upon completion of the course, a student should be able to communicate and understand English at a basic level. The student will be able to converse very basically with each other and attain the basic foundation of English grammar. 

Prerequisite: Appropriate score on placement test

Low Beginner (Level 2):
This class meets: Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-1:45pm (19 hours/week) - 8 week session
This course is designed for students who have a basic foundation in English after completion of Level 1. A student in this level has enough proficiency to use the language to communicate basic ideas about themselves, hobbies, and more physical activities, but is still at a beginner’s level. They will be able to talk about the past and future, give their basic opinions about experiences, and ask about other people.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1 or receive a passing score on the IEP Level 1 test or appropriate score on placement test

High Beginner (Level 3):
This class meets: Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-1:45pm (19 hours/week) - 8 week session
At this stage, the student will learn how to composite simple sentences and write on a simple level using description and narration. They will depart from the basic beginner’s grasp of English to a more intermediate grasp of the language. Students will attain a stronger sense of sentence structure and have a larger vocabulary to communicate and translate ideas from sentences into paragraphs. Grammar will focus on strengthening their knowledge of the simple present tenses, simple past tenses, perfect tenses, future tense, and more advanced grammar tenses such as the past progressive.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1&2 or receive a passing score on the IEP Level 2 test or appropriate score on placement test

Low Intermediate (Level 4):
This class meets: Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-1:45pm (19 hours/week) - 8 week session
By this point, students are beginning to develop basic competence in spoken English. They can take care of their day-to-day needs in English and communicate and understand at a simple level. After completion of this level, the student will be able to discuss in depth about their preferences and thoughts on issues. They will also be able to give instructions and advice using more fluent words and grammar tenses.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1-3 or receive a passing score on the IEP Level 3 test or appropriate score on placement test.

Intermediate (Level 5):
This class meets: Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-1:45pm (19 hours/week) - 8 week session
Students engage in practical, real-world English speaking and conversation building. They learn to write with accuracy and depth, expanding their vocabulary and improving on their use of grammar mechanics. They go beyond the basic ideas of topics and can discuss main ideas, make comparisons, state advantages and disadvantages, and explain reasons and conditions. The course will have stronger emphasis on grammar, concentrating on learning to choose the right tenses in the appropriate situation and recognizing various expressions in practical situations. The student will learn how to write in English using the grammar and vocab they have learned.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1-4 or receive a passing score on the IEP Level 4 test or appropriate score on placement test.

High Intermediate (Level 6):
This class meets: Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-1:45pm (19 hours/week) - 8 week session
This course is designed for students who have a stronger knowledge of English grammar and composition. Students at this level can speak English in advanced situations. The focus on this class will be to implement the grammar in writing and speaking on advanced topics so that the student can become fluent in their usage of it.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1-5 or receive a passing score on the IEP Level 5 test or appropriate score on placement test.

Low Advanced (Level 7):
This class meets: Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-1:45pm (19 hours/week) - 8 week session
In this class, students will depart from forming solely a grammar foundation and begin to focus on using their grammatical, reading, writing, and speaking skills to convey ideas and to glean meaning from readings and writing that they are exposed to. They will begin to interpret readings, make predictions, categorize main ideas and write summarizing essays for works that they read. Grammar will be covered on a comprehensive basis, reaffirming what the students have already learned in previous levels. This course includes a review of English phonetic sounds, word-level stress, accent, pronunciation and intonation as well.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1-6 or receive a passing score on the IEP Level 6 test.

High Advanced (Level 8):
This class meets: Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-1:45pm (19 hours/week) - 8 week session
This course will elaborate on what has been covered in the previous level. Students will think more critically about the content of a reading and its meaning to their own lives. Student will be taught to recognize and use the context clues and knowledge of word families, prefixes, and suffixes to understand the new vocabulary, developing a larger active and passive vocabulary. By this point, students should be able to complete readings in a fixed period of time, and also begin to convey meaning in a fixed period of time. They will have a firmer grasp of grammar and how to integrate it into their daily lives.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1-7 or receive a passing score on the IEP Level 7 test

Professional 1 (Level 9):
This class meets: Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-1:45pm (19 hours/week) - 8 week session
The course will concentrate on learning instruction in essay development and reading comprehension. Students will learn to use previewing, skimming, scanning, and note-taking techniques; understanding the main ideas from the appropriate reading, and understanding the literary features such as plot, conflict, setting, character, theme, symbol and point of view. Critical thinking skills will be explored and employed in order to analyze the reading, conduct research, and compose complex essays. The student will also learn different phrasal verbs commonly used in the English language and how to use them in appropriate contexts in their daily lives. This course also places emphasis on clarity of pronunciation.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1-8 or receive a passing score on the IEP Level 8 test.

Professional II (Level 10):
This class meets: Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-1:45pm (19 hours/week) - 8 week session
In this course, students will further improve their reading comprehension skills and continue to write well-structured paragraphs and essays. Specifically, students will learn to use a variety of pre-reading strategies to become more effective readers and to identify main and supporting ideas of a text. Students will be well versed in speaking about a variety of different topics from religion to poverty to culture. Students will become fluent in a variety of different writing techniques and strategies in speaking to better express themselves effectively.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1-9 or receive a passing score on the IEP Level 9 test.

Bilingual I (Level 11):
This class meets: Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-1:45pm (19 hours/week) - 8 week session
This course is for students who have a fluent grasp of grammar tenses, vocabulary, and have read a variety of works. In this course, students focus on greater academic vocabulary development, as well as writing longer and more developed essays with strong supporting points. They will gain more specialized and fluent language to talk about niche topics.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1-10 or receive a passing score on the IEP Level 10 test

Bilingual II (Level 12):
This class meets: Monday-Thursday from 9:00am-1:45pm (19 hours/week) - 8 week session
This course is for students who have a fluent grasp of grammar tenses, vocabulary, and have read a variety of works. In this course, students will focus on greater academic vocabulary development, as well as write longer and more developed essays with strong supporting points. They will develop effective reading strategies and form an understanding of how academic texts are written. They will gain more specialized language to talk about niche topics such as business, everyday life, and population change.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1-11 or receive a passing score on the IEP Level 11 test
