Join Zurich Australia as a Property Underwriter and be part of our journey to become Australia’s Leading Digital Insurer. As we transform our technology and reimagine the way we serve our customers, you’ll play a pivotal role within our newly established Authorised Representative (AR) division, dedicated to supporting and growing AR networks across Australia. This division is focused on ambitious growth targets in a rapidly expanding segment, driving business development and unlocking new opportunities for Zurich and our partners.

Your role will underwrite and analyse new and renewal property risks within delegated authority levels, balancing strong technical discipline with commercial outcomes that deliver for our customers. Working closely with Claims, Distribution and other underwriting lines, you’ll use data‑driven insights and Zurich’s digital platforms to make confident decisions, manage portfolio performance and co‑create propositions that are simple, efficient and customer‑centred.

You will also be responsible for the following:

  • Underwriting and pricing new and renewal property business within your authority, ensuring sound risk selection and sustainable profitability.
  • Building trusted relationships with brokers and ARs to support retention, growth and cross‑sell opportunities, while championing Zurich’s digital solutions.
  • Leveraging underwriting tools, data and analytics to inform coverage decisions, appetite alignment and portfolio optimisation.
  • Partnering with Claims, Distribution and other lines to shape multi‑line propositions and deliver seamless customer experiences.
  • Maintaining market awareness and ensuring adherence to underwriting standards, regulations and internal controls.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement by sharing insights, testing and learning, and supporting the development of peers through coaching and reviews.

You’re a commercially minded, technically strong property underwriter who thrives in a broker‑facing environment, is comfortable with digital tools and data, and collaborates brilliantly across teams to deliver outstanding customer outcomes.

In order to be successful, you will have the following:

  • Proven property underwriting experience (ideally 3–5+ years) with a track record of sound decision‑making and technical excellence.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment, exposure analysis and pricing, using underwriting tools and frameworks.
  • Strong relationship management, communication and negotiation skills with intermediaries and internal stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of general insurance regulations, underwriting guidelines and authority levels, with disciplined adherence…
