Job Description:Data analysis. The candidate supports research projects of PhD students and postdocs at the IMB by applying (and/or advising on) appropriate biostatistics and modelling methods for the analysis, integration and visualization of omics data (e.g., genomics, metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics).
Data and IT infrastructural management. The candidate supports the management, storage and submission to relevant repositoriesof the various data types (i.e., omics and imaging) that are generated at the IMB, and collaborates with the IT staff and Senior Bioinformatician of the IMB to maintain infrastructure for administrative and teaching needs.
Training of IMB members in relevant areas of bioinformatics/computational biology. The candidate supports the training of PhD students and postdocs by organising individual sessions and regular teaching sessions (e.g., workshops) for the members of the IMB.
Development of tools and methods for biological data analysis. Initiatives to develop tools and methods for the analysis of omics data, also in the context of career development, are welcome.
Your profile
Required qualifications :
- PhD (or MSc) in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computer science, computational biology or related field
- Excellent communication, teamwork and organizational skills
- Demonstrated experience in the modelling and analysis of omics data
- Solid understanding of biological/statistical data analysis methods
- Proficient programming skills (e.g., Python, R, UNIX/bash scripting, use of HPC systems)
The following additional qualifications may be advantageous :
- Expertise in statistical approaches to integrate multi-omics data
- Background inmicrobial population/comparative genomics, ecology and evolution, physiology and metabolism
