About

the Role

As an intern in our Intra‑Group Retrocession (IGR) & External Retrocession team, you'll gain invaluable hands‑on experience in financial accounting and reporting within a leading global reinsurance company. You'll collaborate with professionals across Finance, IT, and Risk Management departments while developing practical skills that will set a strong foundation for your future career.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce financial statements for IGR and external retrocession with a focus on IFRS
    17 during quarterly closing cycles
  • Validate and analyze financial figures, serving as the main point of contact for inquiries related to internal and external retrocession results
  • Drive process improvements by identifying inefficiencies and exploring new technologies to enhance accuracy and productivity
  • Ensure data integrity and completeness within our financial systems
  • Support strategic initiatives and projects related to the financial reporting landscape
About the Team

Global Finance Operations & Transformation (GFO&T) is responsible for delivering accurate, consistent and high-quality financial information for Swiss Re's external reporting and internal decision-making. This includes Group IFRS reporting, statutory financial statements for all legal entities, as well as SST and Solvency II. Within GFO&T, the IGR & External Retrocession team plays a central role in the accounting and reporting of intra-group and external retrocession transactions, with a strong focus on IFRS 17.

We also drive the transformation of Global Finance towards a simpler, more efficient and forward-looking organization. We work in a friendly, collaborative and international team environment, where curiosity, teamwork and continuous improvement are highly valued.

About You

You're a curious and motivated individual with a passion for finance and a desire to learn in a dynamic, global environment. You enjoy working with numbers, have strong analytical abilities, and thrive in collaborative settings where you can contribute while developing your professional skills.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
  • Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a bachelor's or master's degree in economics, finance, accounting, or a related quantitative field (or Swiss qualification: Fachmann/-frau im Finanz- und Rechnungswesen)
  • Basic understanding of financial statements and accounting principles
  • Interest in quarterly closing processes and financial reporting
  • Willingness to learn and work with finance systems (e.g. SAP, FPSL, LFD)
  • Good proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken
These are additional nice to haves:
  • Basic knowledge of other international/local accounting standards (US GAAP, SCO, Swiss GAAP FER)
  • First exposure to accounting, auditing, or finance roles (internships, working student roles, projects)
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail

The start date is 1. May 2026 or upon mutual agreement, with an internship duration of 6 to 12 months, depending on availability and agreement. Please note that the review process will start after 9 March 2026.
