We have been exclusively mandated with the search for a CFO.

Our client is a global leader within the reinsurance sector. The company supports insurers worldwide through sophisticated risk-transfer solutions, offering expertise across a broad spectrum of non-life and specialty lines. Role Overview

The Chief Financial Officer will be a key member of the Executive Committee, responsible for the overall financial management, reporting, and strategic financial planning of the company. The CFO will ensure compliance with Swiss regulatory requirements (FINMA), IFRS/Swiss GAAP reporting standards, and group financial policies, while maintaining robust financial controls appropriate for a regulated reinsurance entity.

Key Responsibilities Financial Management and Reporting

The CFO will oversee all financial operations, including the preparation of statutory and regulatory financial statements in accordance with Swiss law, FINMA requirements, and applicable accounting standards. This includes responsibility for quarterly and annual reporting to FINMA, the Board of Directors, and the parent company, as well as coordination with external auditors and the appointed actuary.

Regulatory Compliance and Capital Management

The CFO will ensure compliance with Swiss Solvency Test (SST) requirements, including the preparation and submission of SST reports to FINMA. The role includes responsibility for capital planning, liquidity management, and the development of financial projections to support business planning and regulatory capital adequacy.

Investment Management

The CFO will oversee the company's investment portfolio in accordance with the investment policy approved by the Board, ensuring appropriate asset‑liability matching, risk‑adjusted returns, and compliance with regulatory investment guidelines.

Internal Controls and Governance

The CFO will establish and maintain a robust internal control framework over financial reporting, including the design and implementation of policies, procedures, and systems to ensure the integrity of financial information and the safeguarding of company assets.

Strategic Planning and Business Support

Working closely with the CEO and the Board, the CFO will contribute to the development of the company's business strategy, providing financial analysis, scenario modelling, and decision support for strategic initiatives, including new product development and market expansion.

Qualifications and Experience
  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field, complemented by a professional qualification such as CPA, Swiss Certified Expert in Accounting and Controlling, or equivalent
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in financial management within the insurance or reinsurance industry is required, with at least five years in a senior finance role
  • The candidate must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Swiss insurance regulation (Insurance Supervision Act, Insurance Supervision Ordinance, FINMA circulars), Swiss Solvency Test methodology, and IFRS 17 or Swiss GAAP FER accounting standards
  • Experience with FINMA regulatory reporting and interactions with Swiss supervisory authorities is highly desirable.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical capabilities, excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
  • The candidate must demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to meet FINMA's fit and proper requirements for persons in responsible positions
  • Fluency in English and German is required
  • The successful candidate must be resident in Switzerland or willing to relocate immediately, Swiss or EU/EFTA citizenship or valid work authorization for Switzerland is required
