Data Engineer, AI Engineer
At Irmos Technologies we are on a mission to maximize the safe operational life of existing buildings and bridges. We fundamentally improve the status quo in structural analysis and maintenance planning by combining sensor data with intelligent algorithms. We are a dynamic team of innovative engineers, with extensive expertise in structural assessment, structural health monitoring, data science, and software development. We envision safer and more sustainable infrastructure for everybody and for this we need to clearly communicate infrastructure health metrics to various stakeholders.
Join us as a Data Scientist with a solid background on time-series analysis for health monitoring applications and be a part of reshaping structural maintenance through innovative data-driven solutions. Your expertise will drive data-driven structural assessment and contribute to the evolution of Irmos Technologies in our dynamic startup environment.
What you will do:- Develop and refine algorithms for automated feature extraction and anomaly detection from high-frequency time-series data.
- Build predictive models to estimate the remaining useful life of structures and detect early-stage structural degradation.
- Engineer robust anomaly detection algorithms to filter noise and handle non-stationary environmental effects in real-world sensor data.
- Implement automated data validation and quality layers to identify sensor malfunctions, drifts, or data gaps before they reach the analytical models.
- Collaborate with Structural Engineers to 'close the loop' between data-driven insights and physical inspections/rehabilitation strategies.
- Visualize complex health metrics to provide clear, data-driven insights for stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Master’s degree in Data Science with Engineering background (Civil/Mechanical with a strong computational focus) or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of professional experience in data science with a proven track record in time-series analysis.
- Deep proficiency in Python and the scientific stack (Num Py, Sci Py, Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch/Tensor Flow).
- Expertise in Signal Processing (FFT, Filtering, Wavelets) and its application to time-history data.
- Experience with SHM and predictive maintenance methodologies is a significant advantage.
- Solid understanding of SQL/No
SQL and experience working with large datasets in cloud environments. - Familiarity with version control (git) and collaborative development in a CI/CD environment.
- Motivated to integrate into a dynamic, high-performance, and exciting start-up environment.
- Passionate about technical excellence and delivering innovative, complete solutions for industry-first products that set new standards in the construction industry.
- Independent, with meticulous attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
- A collaborative team player who thrives in a dynamic and inclusive work environment.
- Proficient in English, both written and verbal. Other languages are a plus.
- Experience the thrill of delivering pioneering technology that changes lives and builds a safer, more sustainable future.
- Take advantage of unique opportunities for professional development by participating in professional workshops, seminars, and networking events.
- Manage your own time and maximize your day by taking advantage of our flexible working environment.
- Enjoy the benefits of being part of an ETH Spin-off, including reduced membership for the Academic Sport Club of ETH (ASVZ).
