Team Lead (f/m/d) Data Flywheel
100% Zürich
Hexagon Robotics is a division of Hexagon – a global leader in precision measurement. The division develops humanoid robots for industrial sectors to address labor shortages and accelerate the transition from automation to autonomy. Our first humanoid, AEON, was launched in June 2025 and is already in pilots with five customers.
We are looking for a technical leader who can combine strong systems thinking with effective engineering and people management. You will lead our Data Flywheel team—responsible for the collection, curation, quality assurance, and cloud‑scale storage of multimodal data that powers our embodied AI models. Your mission is to design and execute our strategy for building a foundational dataset that enables large‑scale Vision‑Language‑Action (VLA) models for humanoid robots.
Your leadership will directly determine the pace at which AEON becomes more capable, reliable, and autonomous.
Your Mission- Build and lead a world‑class data organization, fostering mentorship, growth, technical excellence, and ownership
- Own the end‑to‑end data flywheel—from collection and annotation to quality, governance, and Azure storage—ensuring high‑fidelity data flows into training
- Define the dataset strategy and roadmap for scalable, diverse training data for large VLA models in close partnership with research
- Architect and evolve a robust Azure‑based cloud data platform (ingestion, labeling, cataloging, versioning, compliance)
- Operationalize the data lifecycle with clear processes, KPIs, and feedback loops across collection, training, and deployment
- Partner closely with Product, Research, and Robotics as the central point of contact for data strategy
- 3+ years of experience leading or managing technical teams in a fast‑paced environment
- 5+ years of work experience in data engineering, ML systems, cloud infrastructure, or similar domains
- An advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, or a related field
- Proven ability to design and scale large‑scale data pipelines, data platforms, or cloud‑based storage systems (Azure experience highly valued)
- Experience building or managing datasets for deep learning‑based systems, ideally including multimodal data
- Direct experience with data flywheel architectures, data collection operations, or high‑throughput cloud data platforms is a major plus
- Strong foundations in Python, cloud data tooling, and modern data/ML engineering practices
- Experience working within robotics ecosystems (ROS2 or similar) is beneficial but not required
- Flexible working hours and a hybrid model for real work‑life balance
- Generous vacation: 25–30 days depending on age
- CHF 500 mobility credit for sustainable commuting
- Bonus system & strong pension contributions
- Tailored training & development opportunities
- Relocation support for a smooth start
- Discounts on health, mobility & entertainment
- Team events and a flat hierarchy where your voice counts
- A warm, international culture built on respect and collaboration
Great robots need great people.
