The Role

The Senior Director, Global Public Affairs & Policy will be responsible for shaping and advancing Genmab’s global policy and external engagement agenda across Europe and International regions. The role will help ensure that the broader policy landscape supports timely and sustainable patient access to our oncology and hematology therapies.

A key focus of the role is the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers and external stakeholders, while raising awareness of Genmab’s science, values, and commitment to patients. The role also requires solid commercial understanding to ensure alignment between policy activities and business priorities.

This position will work closely with Market Access, Pricing, HEOR, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Corporate Communications, U.S. Policy, and regional General Managers, ensuring a coordinated approach from global strategy to local execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of Genmab’s Global Public Affairs & Policy strategy across Europe and International markets.
  • Establish and expand a trusted network of external stakeholders, including policymakers, healthcare institutions, patient organizations, and industry partners.
  • Strengthen Genmab’s external visibility and reputation as a science-driven contributor to improved patient outcomes in oncology and hematology.
  • Provide strategic direction to regional teams in the design and execution of local Public Affairs & Policy plans, ensuring alignment with global objectives.
  • Communicate Genmab’s scientific and clinical value proposition clearly and responsibly to policymakers and other stakeholders.
  • Apply strong business and commercial acumen to ensure policy and external engagement efforts support Genmab’s strategic aims.
  • Monitor policy developments and assess their implications for patient access, innovation, and the broader healthcare environment.
  • Represent Genmab in industry associations and multi-stakeholder platforms, contributing to constructive dialogue and policy evolution.
  • Partner with Corporate Communications to support consistent and aligned external communication across markets.
  • Ensure compliant and well-coordinated advocacy and governmental engagement across supported regions.
  • Provide thought leadership on emerging global health policy trends, positioning Genmab as a proactive voice in shaping the future of oncology and hematology access.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    Mentor and lead a small team of public affairs/policy professionals, setting performance goals, fostering career growth, and enhancing internal capabilities.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience:

    15+ years in public affairs, government relations, policy strategy, or related roles, ideally in biotech, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare sectors. Proven track record leading global policy engagement and navigating complex regulatory environments.
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in public policy, Government Affairs, Political Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred (MPP, JD, MPH, MBA).

    Collaboration:

    Comfortable engaging with C-suite, regulators, trade bodies, and external partners. Excellent cross-functional teamwork across legal, scientific, and commercial areas.
